The Indian automotive company Youdha has released the EPOD-Bharat. A limited edition model of its L5 electric passenger three-wheeler which combines traditional Indian artwork with an electric mobility solution. The limited edition was launched at the Bharat Vyapar Mahotsav held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The limited edition has been designed keeping in mind the Indian women, artisans and villages in mind.

Introduces Warli Art on EPOD-Bharat

Perhaps, the biggest difference in the EPOD-Bharat compared to the standard EPOD is the exterior of the vehicle. It has been painted using artworks based on Warli art, a traditional Indian art. The illustrations include women, village scenes, nature, and festive occasions.

Instead of looking at it only as a form of decoration, the limited edition is more of an ode to traditional artisans. How their work has played an important role in connecting them to the era of electric mobility in India.

EPOD Bharat Powertrain

However, despite being painted by hand, the EPOD-Bharat is based on the EPOD L5 electric passenger three-wheeler. It comes equipped with a 6 kW motor, which generates 50 Nm of torque, along with the 11.8 kWh lithium-ion LFP battery.

  • Driving modes: City and Boost
  • Water-wading capacity: 300 mm

With the ability to wade through water up to 300 mm deep. The vehicle has been designed to be able to adapt to the changing Indian weather conditions.

Price Starts from Rs 3.20 Lakh

The electric three-wheeler is available for the price of ₹3.20 lakh. Youdha has created this product based on the needs of self-employed drivers and mobility entrepreneurs. For Youdha, the most important qualities of the vehicle include range, performance, durability, and operational efficiency.

Range, performance, durability, and efficiency are some of the aspects that make the vehicle very unique. As such, the EPOD-Bharat’s basic platform becomes more significant when we consider its applicability in commercial passenger transportation because operational cost and functionality still matter in the sector.

Production Capacity is 1 Lakh Units per Year

EPOD is produced at Youdha’s manufacturing plant based in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. It has a production capacity of 1,00,000 units annually. It is equipped with automated assembly lines and quality testing and control mechanisms.

The EPOD-Bharat adds a cultural element to Youdha’s electric three-wheeler but still preserves all the technical parameters of EPOD. Its hand-made Warli-inspired design places the elements of Indian traditional craftsmanship next to an electric engine that can be used commercially.
