With Steelbird Hi-Tech India Ltd. taking yet another significant stride in its expanding endeavor. The company has started building its seventh plant in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. Steelbird recently carried out Bhumi Pujan for the plant. It is poised to boost its production capacity and give it a strong edge in the international market of helmets manufacturing.

The proposed integrated plant would occupy an area of 22 acres with almost 15 lakh sq. ft. of manufacturing capacity. Upon completion, the plant would be able to manufacture one crore helmets every year, thereby boosting the total production capacity of the company from 1.5 crore to 2.5 crore helmets annually by 2032.

Future Expansion Plan

The new manufacturing plant is one step in Steelbird’s plan to prepare for future growth. In order to meet the increased demand both within the country and abroad for rider safety products that are guaranteed. In addition to increased production capacity, the manufacturing plant will help in making the company more vertically integrated. It means that the majority of parts for helmets will be manufactured in-house.

Currently, the following helmet parts are being manufactured by Steelbird:

  • Helmets shells
  • EPS liners
  • Visors and visor films
  • Buckles and retention systems
  • Helmet interiors
  • Decals and packing materials

Investments in Advanced Materials and Product Development

The most important part of the expansion strategy is the construction of production lines for Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) and Expanded Thermoplastic Polyurethane (E-TPU). These are materials used to make helmets more safe but at the same time less heavy and more comfortable for the riders.

The company Steelbird continues to invest a lot into its Research and Development activities. In particular, the company says that:

  • More than ten new helmets are launched each year.
  • Each new product is developed during 18 to 24 months.
  • Development cost is in the range of ₹1.5 to ₹5 crore per model.

Mr. Rajeev Kapur, Managing Director, Steelbird Hi-Tech India Ltd., said “This expansion is not just about increasing production capacity; it reflects our long-term commitment to making world-class rider safety products in India for both domestic and global markets. The seventh manufacturing plant represents our vision for the future, where innovation, technology, and manufacturing excellence come together to deliver safer, lighter, and more advanced helmets. As demand for certified protective gear continues to grow, we are investing today to build the manufacturing capabilities of tomorrow and strengthen India's position as a global hub for helmet manufacturing.”

Company Plans to Make Smart Helmets

As part of the company’s future plans regarding the product roadmap there are a number of technological innovations for both domestic and foreign markets. The company is planning to launch the following products over the next five years:

  • Premium line of helmets
  • Smart helmets with Bluetooth connection
  • Luminous helmets
