Reasons for Simple Energy to Make the Wave Scooter
So far, Simple Energy was known for its performance electric scooters. One, OneS, and the fast Ultra. Clearly, the launch of the Wave scooter is an attempt of the company to shift. Towards more user-friendly options for families, students, and daily commuters that care more about convenience than speed.
As many analysts argue, it is quite a smart step for Simple Energy. Since the Indian market of electric scooters is at the very beginning of its development. While the number of family scooters constitutes the main share of India's sales of two-wheelers.
Design and Comfort: A Design For Everyday Use
The design of the Wave revolves around comfort, convenience, and family mobility. The following features are expected to be available from the early reports and images:
- A comfortable single piece long seat for improved comfort
- Spacious floorboard to store your shopping bags and small goods
- LED headlamp mounted on the apron with turn indicators
- Telescopic front forks with twin rear shock absorbers. Replacing monoshock system on the one series to offer better comfort
- Upright posture and overall body design to reduce fatigue while riding in the city.
Features and Technology
Despite the absence of the detailed specification sheet from Simple Energy. It has been indicated in multiple reports and briefings that the company will launch a well-equipped vehicle. Expected features of the bike include:
- 7-inch TFT instrument cluster with smartphone integration
- Turn by turn navigation, media player controls, and call and SMS alerts
- Hill assist, reverse, and cruise control for urban commuting
- USB charger for phones and other electronic devices
- Weather and news widget on the display
The list of features mentioned above matches the buyer's demand in the premium commuter category. The Wave will be competing with other models including Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak.
Battery, Range, and Performance (Estimate)
Simple Energy has not disclosed any figures till date. But here are some estimated figures based on what seems fairly consistent from various sources:
- Battery: A battery of around 3.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack
- Engine Power: Approximately 6.4 kW motor output
- Estimated Range: Up to 190 km (IDC cycle); however, actual usage is likely to be in the 150-180 km range
- Speed: Maximum speed: 90 km/h
These figures seem sufficient to handle most city driving needs, weekend travel, and inter-town commuting up to 60-80 km radius.
Price and Competition
Most of the estimates put the Simple Wave’s on-road price between ₹1.30 lakh and ₹1.50 lakh. Depending upon variants and battery options. This puts the Simple Wave in the category that competes against:
- Ather Rizta
- TVS iQube
- Bajaj Chetak including the latest C25 model
- Ola S1 Air and its variants
For Simple Energy, it is important to have feature-rich offering at competitive pricing along with a robust aftersales network.
ELCTRIK Speaks
Simple Wave is a well-planned step for Simple Energy. As it moves from offering premium performance scooters to becoming a key player in India’s mass market segment. Provided that its final price and real range are what they are anticipated to be. The company can turn out to be a real competitor in a competitive family electric vehicle segment. It all depends now on how they implement their plans.
