Range and Battery Options

The Kia Syros EV equipped with 51.4 kWh battery will give the ARAI-certified range of up to 526 km. It is considered the best-in-segment range and the first one of this kind to surpass the 500 km range mark. The other 42 kWh battery is also offered providing the claimed 443 km range.

Main battery and vehicle performance characteristics:

  • 51.4 kWh battery with claimed 526 km range.
  • 42 kWh battery with claimed 443 km range.
  • 171 PS of power.
  • 0-100 kmph acceleration in 8.1 sec. with 51.4kWh battery pack.

Another thing that matters a lot for city dwellers is the battery charging time. Kia claims that Kia Syros EV will have the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes using 100 kW DC fast charger.

Mr. Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director and CEO of Kia India, said, “Our philosophy of 'Movement that Inspires' is about making future mobility meaningful, accessible and enriching for our customers. With the Kia Syros EV, our second mass-market electric vehicle for India, we are democratizing advanced electric mobility — not only through cutting-edge technology, but by removing the anxieties that hold customers back. The Syros EV delivers a best-in-segment ARAI-certified range of 526 km — the first in its segment to cross the 500 km mark. Paired with a best-in-segment power output of 171 PS, it gives customers the confidence to go further without compromising on performance. Backed by a simplified and effortless ownership experience, including a Lifetime* Battery Warranty, Assured Buyback and BaaS, we are addressing what matters most to Indian families, bringing them a decisive step closer to going electric.”

Confidence in Ownership

It is evident that Kia attempts to solve the primary problem related to the acceptance of electric vehicles by providing such features. As a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty, an Assured Buyback program, and Battery-as-a-Service financing for the Syros EV.

These services are expected to work as follows:

  • Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty is supposed to decrease concerns related to battery longevity.
  • Assured Buyback program is thought to be used as a means to retain resale value.
  • Battery-as-a-Service financing will make initial costs more affordable.

This is a great idea because the market consists of first-time electric vehicle users who tend to be concerned about the cost of replacing a battery, depreciation, and other aspects of ownership.

Cabin & Technology

In terms of cabin technology, the Kia Syros EV comes loaded with an abundance of features. Among them, Kia's flagship 76.20 cm Trinity Panoramic Display Panel stands out as it integrates the instrument cluster, the infotainment screen, and climate controls all in one huge panel.

Additionally, there are:

  • Kia Connect 2.0 with 95 connected features.
  • Over-the-air software updates.
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
  • Harman Kardon 8-speaker sound system.
  • Wireless smartphone charger.
  • Dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
  • Ventilated seats & 4-way adjustable driver seat.
  • Smart dashcam & 16 litre frunk.

Another key aspect of the cabin technology includes the rear seating versatility. Syros EV boasts 60:40 split rear seats that can be slid & reclined. It plays a crucial role when it comes to the Indian market where rear seating is often valued more than performance.

Design and Charging Ecosystem

Syros EV features Kia's Digital Tiger Face design, LED lighting features, aero alloy wheels, and EV-specific design details. In addition, the car has been designed upright and has the characteristics of an SUV. Thus increasing its chances of success among customers looking for an electric car that would not sacrifice the road presence of a regular SUV.

No less important is the charging ecosystem. Kia K-Charge, accessed via MyKia app. It has managed to integrate over 20,300 charging spots from 23 charging providers into one platform. In addition, the company boasts of having 129 Kia dealerships equipped with DC fast chargers and 275 EV-ready workshops.

ELCTRIK Speaks

The Syros EV seems to be a sensible and capable offering for Indian customers. Kia’s approach towards addressing customer needs is spot-on as the firm has emphasized all the necessary aspects. Like range, charging speed, safety, and owner confidence in the long run. The product seems to have been developed after careful deliberation, not just as a hype creation exercise.
