Intercity bus service zingbus that uses technology has now made strides in India in terms of increasing its reach. Through the signing of Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) with 50 bus operators. As part of the deal, zingbus will roll out more than 200 zingbus Maxx and electric buses within the next 12 months. It was announced at Prawaas 5.0, which is among the largest passenger transport events in India. Won the Bharat Prawaas People’s Choice Award 2026 under Favourite Pan-India Bus Operator.
It is an approach that zingbus has been taking through collaborations to scale up operations rather than through expansion via acquiring assets. zingbus will leverage its technology platform, digital bookings process and operational efficiency along with that of the partner operators to provide efficient intercity services.
Fleet Rollout for the South and West India
In the first stage of the fleet deployment, zingbus will target the most popular routes in South and West India. It will continue to experience a steady increase in passenger numbers. The main routes chosen for the fleet rollout will be as follows:
- Bengaluru
- Hyderabad
- Chennai
- Pune
- Mumbai
- Goa
They were chosen because of the high demand for premium transportation services. People’s growing preference for structured services rather than ad hoc transport solutions. zingbus will strive to improve connectivity between these cities and provide consistent services by different operators.
A considerable share of the new vehicles will be zingbus Maxx. A premium service of the company aimed at providing passengers with extra comfort, additional onboard services and higher reliability. Along with that, the electric buses will play an important role in the fleet deployment, in accordance with the sustainability goals set by the company.
Expansion In-Line with Industry Developments
There is a clear trend developing in the intercity transport market in India. Increasingly, travelers choose their modes of transport based on criteria such as comfort, punctuality, safety and digital ease of use. Also there is an increasing concern about the environmental footprint that prompts transportation companies to embrace environmentally-friendly technology.
Zingbus is positioning itself to cater to the needs of modern travelers. Emphasis on digital booking and real-time monitoring makes its services even more appealing.
At the Prawaas 5.0 conference, Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari stressed the need for increased passenger safety. Faster transition to electric mobility and improved quality of passenger travel.
Zingbus Plans for 1,000 Electric Buses by 2030
“Travellers are increasingly seeking greater comfort, reliability, safety and transparency from intercity bus services. These partnerships will help us scale premium and electric mobility while enabling regional operators to benefit from technology, stronger distribution and standardised service delivery,” said Mratunjay Beniwal, Co-founder and COO, zingbus.
Going by the company’s road map for the future, zingbus intends to deploy around 50 electric buses during the year 2026. As for the future, the company has even set itself a highly ambitious target of having 1,000 electric buses in the fleet by 2030.
ELCTRIK Speaks

The move shows how zingbus will grow through working with local carriers and focusing more on its premium buses and also electric buses. This move by zingbus can set the standard in the development of the bus transport system in the country.
