To encourage Indian EV buyers to expand their horizon beyond the car itself and focus on the home installation. Kazam has come up with its 'EV-Ready Ghar' campaign. Launched on July 21, 2026, the campaign revolves around the results of a collaborative study conducted by Kazam and AEEE. It sheds light on how the safety of home charging is now a critical factor in EV ownership in India.

Why Does the Campaign Matter?

Although home charging constitutes the majority of all EV charging in the country. According to Kazam, there are still many Indian homes that are ill-prepared to handle home charging safely. Conducted by installing more than 80,000 residential chargers. The study concludes that close to half of Indian homes might require some sort of electrical installation or corrections to ensure safe EV charging.

The gap matters because the adoption of EVs is increasing rapidly, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities where electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler purchases are gaining momentum.

What Kazam is Providing?

EV Home Readiness Quiz lies at the core of the promotion campaign. This is a simple digital test helping people to learn about the possibility of installing EV chargers in their homes safely. In case additional inspection is needed, Kazam provides help by means of technicians called Kazam Rangers.

Also, Kazam relies on the format of raising awareness in a music-related way. The campaign does not talk exclusively about vehicles but emphasizes wiring, electrical load and safer residential charging.

The Key Results of the Study

According to the research, some common problems of residential charging have been found:

  • Many residences are not prepared for EV charging load.
  • Special circuits and appropriate electrical load are important for safe charging.
  • Planning residential charging should be connected with housing code, safety and power infrastructures of the area.

It is also mentioned that residential charging already covers the majority of daily electricity needs of electric cars and is cheaper than public charging.

"Home charging is where the EV experience truly begins, yet it's often the least understood part of owning an electric vehicle. Through 'EV-Ready Ghar', we wanted to make conversations around safe home charging simple, relatable and easy to act on. The campaign combines music with practical tools like the EV Home Readiness Quiz to help consumers understand whether their homes are truly EV-ready and what steps they can take to charge safely. As India moves towards a future of 50 million EVs, building confidence in home charging will be critical to accelerating adoption. Because before India becomes EV-ready, India's homes must become EV-ready," said Vani Vivek, AVP-Marketing, Kazam.

ELCTRIK Speaks

As opposed to being a show-off product introduction, this particular launch solves the issue of safe charging at home. This point is clearly made by Kazam that electric vehicles would not be adopted easily if homes were not ready for such vehicles. This campaign is timely and relevant and is based on a substantial dataset, thus making it more substantial than any other typical brand promotion. As for EV buyers, this is a nice reminder that the wall plug is almost as important as the battery.
