JSW MG Motor India is making another move towards its electrification efforts. As the company has launched MG ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology). It is the first Multi NEV (Multi New Energy Vehicle) platform for India. The platform is developed as a modular platform that is capable of hosting EVs, HEVs, PHEVs, and REEVs on a single platform.

It has been said that the platform will allow the company to meet the changing needs of Indian customers. As the platform offers different powertrain variants and saves the company from spending more time on the development process. As per JSW MG Motor India, the company’s first two cars based on the ADAPT platform – an EV and a PHEV – will arrive in FY 2026-27.

Platform Designed for Evolving Requirements of Customers

In contrast to designing different platforms for different types of powertrains. The new platform by MG named “ADAPT” has been made in a way that different types of powertrains can fit into it. In this way, the manufacturer would be able to produce future vehicles in an efficient manner.

Moreover, this platform has been designed with the future in mind. Therefore, the company would be able to adapt itself with the changing environment of the Indian automobile industry.

Advanced Technologies Behind MG ADAPT Platform

There are a number of different advanced technologies behind this new platform of MG.

Key features are as follows:

  • Special hybrid engine concentrating on achieving high efficiency and low fuel consumption.
  • Specific battery unit that responds quickly and improves safety.
  • India's first 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit, comprising all systems in one place.
  • World's first Electromagnetic Dedicated Hybrid Transmission for fast and smooth power transmission.
  • Intelligent Energy Management System automatically improves the vehicle operation according to the situation.

Intelligent Drive Modes for Every Situation

One of the most interesting features about the MG ADAPT is its energy management system. It constantly checks driving situations and switches to one of the four operating modes:

  • Pure Electric Drive for urban trips.
  • Series Hybrid Drive, when the engine produces electricity but drives wheels with the help of the motor.
  • Parallel Hybrid Drive when the vehicle uses both the engine and the motor.
  • Engine Direct Drive for efficient highway trips.

It was designed to achieve a better economy without reducing comfort level.

Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, said, "At JSW MG Motor India, we believe the future of mobility lies in giving customers the freedom to choose the energy solution that best suits their lifestyle, without compromising on performance, efficiency or driving experience. MG ADAPT marks a defining milestone in our New Energy Vehicle journey and reflects our commitment to bringing globally advanced technologies that are relevant to the evolving needs of Indian customers. Designed as a highly flexible technology platform, MG ADAPT brings together multiple energy solutions on a single intelligent architecture, enabling us to deliver vehicles that are more efficient, more adaptable and engineered for the future. As we continue to expand our New Energy Vehicle portfolio, this platform will serve as the technological backbone of our future products and reinforce our commitment to accelerating sustainable mobility in India."

Technology of Range Extenders Makes More Ways Available

The Range Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology is also covered by MG ADAPT technology. This means that here, the electric motor moves the wheels all the time. But the petrol engine serves as the generator charging the battery when necessary.

According to the company, this kind of configuration ensures not only an electric drive experience but also extended driving range.

Company is Sure about NEV Future Success

ELCTRIK Speaks

Through MG ADAPT, JSW MG Motor India is expanding its strategy for electric mobility to embrace different forms of powertrains. Through a single scalable platform. With changing consumer preferences and as India’s EV sector continues to mature. The company expects that the flexible nature of this platform will allow it to introduce future-ready cars and establish itself in the emerging NEV market.
