Ather Reveals First Look of Konarc

The latest teaser video from Ather does not give an overview of the complete electric scooter but only gives an insight into its metal body. A close-up video shot by Ather CEO and Co-founder Tarun Mehta on his personal Twitter account, X, gives a sneak peek into the body work. Despite the fact that the company has revealed its metal body, there are still some details regarding the Konarc that have been kept secret. The Ather company hasn't yet stated the capacity of the battery, the riding range, the motor specifications and the price in the information provided.

Konarc to Debut the EL Platform from Ather

The Konarc is not just a simple addition to the existing lineup of electric scooters produced by Ather. The Konarc will become the first production scooter to be created using the EL platform. The EL platform on which the scooter has been built is meant to form the basis of a family of scooters that the company plans to develop.

The purpose behind it is to enable Ather to enter a wider section of the electric two-wheeler market. Given this, Konarc becomes a very significant product for Ather, especially as it aims to move beyond the family of scooters that it currently offers.

Moving Beyond the 450 and Rizta

The new scooter is meant to be one of Ather’s upcoming phases of development in which the firm wants to apply its expertise in designing, engineering, software and usability to more customers. The EL platform is expected to become a crucial platform for Ather’s future products, especially considering that the company tries to reach other customer segments.

New Beginnings for Ather

Konarc might turn out to be a crucial product for Ather’s growth strategy. While the use of metal in the design makes the scooter stand out from its peers. The EL platform hints at a product portfolio to come. Meanwhile, Ather continues to give us clues about the Konarc bit by bit. We will learn everything on August 29 when Ather unveils its first EL-platform production scooter in Bengaluru.

ELCTRIK Speaks

The Konarc does not seem to be simply a scooter that will be launched by Ather. Particularly in light of the new platform being developed and the metal body design. My take is that its significance will lie in the degree to which Ather succeeds in balancing cost, functionality, and technology. If the latter happens, then the Konarc may turn out to play a key role in helping Ather penetrate into the market of electric scooters even further.
