June 2026 became a landmark month for the electric four-wheeler market of India. Passenger EVs recorded their first sales volume crossing the 30,000 mark. It reached 30,592 units, depending on the source. This is not merely an accidental peak; it signals a definite trend in terms of how Indians purchase their electric vehicles now.
Growth Statistics That Matter
Some statistics from June 2026 should not escape attention:
- About 4.6% increase from sales in May 2026, standing at 25,880 units.
- Around 106% year-over-year growth compared to June 2025, which registered the sales volume of only 14,902 units.

The Race Was Won by Tata, Mahindra & MG
Tata Motors maintained its dominance in the category and sold 12,077 units during June. Accounting for 39.5% of the market. The diverse range of products, good servicing, and launch of Sierra EV on 30 June 2026 was a key factor behind it.
Following close behind, Mahindra & Mahindra sold 7,683 units of electric vehicles. Gained almost 1.2 percentage point of the market share from the previous month. The emphasis of Mahindra on launching new versions of electric SUVs was crucial here.
The third position was taken by MG Motor, which sold 5,811 units. Thereby contributing to 19% of the market.
