Market Drivers and Trends
Double-digit growth in June 2026 is supported by a combination of price dynamics, policy, and innovations.
- Increased costs of petrol along with the launch of E20 fuel across the country (fuel containing 20% ethanol). They have made engines less efficient and increased the costs of maintaining traditional two-wheeled vehicles in favor of E2Ws.
- State subsidies, increasing numbers of charging stations, and pressure from urban areas for cleaner transportation. They are helping maintain the demand, particularly in states with high penetration of E2Ws, such as Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
- Portfolio of models from TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X/450 Plus, Hero Vida, and Ola have helped boost the demand by 75% YoY.
ELCTRIK Speaks
The period of June 2026 was proof of how India’s electric two-wheelers have now shifted from the “growth phase” to the “scale phase”. As there were 5 lakh units per quarter being sold and over 10% penetration of E2Ws in India. The increased gap between TVS and the intense competition of Bajaj-Ather-Vida. Indicates that there is a mature multiple-brand contest going on in the industry and not just one dominating player. As far as fuel prices, E20 availability, and state incentives will sustain the demand. But it is going to be decided by supply bottlenecks and competition.
