Zelio E-Mobility has announced the commissioning of a new manufacturing facility in Cuttack, Odisha. The company said the move is aimed at strengthening its presence in eastern India, particularly in Odisha and West Bengal.

The plant has been established to reduce delivery timelines and logistics costs for customers in the region. Until now, vehicles supplied to eastern markets were dispatched from the company’s facility in Hisar, Haryana, which resulted in delivery timelines of up to a week.

Production Capacity Increased

With the new facility, Zelio’s total installed production capacity has increased from 72,000 units per annum to 1,80,000 units per annum. The company’s existing manufacturing unit at Ladwa in Hisar has also undergone capacity expansion. Its installed capacity has been increased from 72,000 units per annum to 1,20,000 units per annum through process optimisation and the addition of machinery, including an extended conveyor belt system. The newly commissioned Cuttack plant adds a production capacity of 60,000 units per annum. The facility will focus exclusively on the production of electric two-wheelers.

Investment and Operations

The Odisha plant has been set up with an investment of under Rs 3 crore and is operational. The company expects the facility to contribute to revenue from the current financial year.

Zelio has stated that discussions regarding the final layout, machinery installation, and integration of eco-friendly systems are ongoing. The company is also in talks with the Odisha government regarding potential incentives and support programs.

Employment and Dealership Network

The Cuttack plant is expected to generate employment for around 60 to 100 people across production and operational roles. The facility will also support the company’s dealership network in eastern and southern India by enabling faster product dispatch and improved inventory management. Zelio currently operates more than 337 dealerships across over 20 states.

Financial Performance and IPO

The announcement follows the company’s financial performance in the first half of FY26, during which it reported consolidated revenue of Rs 134.78 crore and a net profit of Rs 11.87 crore. Earlier in 2026, Zelio completed an SME initial public offering (IPO) worth Rs 78.34 crore. The company has stated that Rs 36 crore of unutilised proceeds from the issue have been allocated for capacity expansion and new facilities, including the Odisha plant.

Kunal Arya, Managing Director, Zelio E-Mobility, said, “Eastern India has emerged as one of our strongest growth regions, with customers showing exceptional trust in our products. Setting up the Cuttack facility brings us closer to our riders and dealers, enabling faster deliveries, lower logistics costs and improved serviceability. Notably, this expansion marks an important step in strengthening India’s EV ecosystem and creating long-term value for our customers and partners.”
