Designed as a Maxi-Scooter
The NMAX 155 Tech MAX is positioned differently from the Yamaha Aerox 155. While the Aerox focuses on a sport-oriented design, the NMAX has been developed for everyday commuting as well as longer rides.
It features a larger front apron, a windscreen, a stepped seat, a wider floorboard and integrated grab rails. Compared to the standard NMAX 155, the Tech MAX version receives different graphics, revised seat upholstery and additional exterior trim.
155 cc Engine with YECVT System
The scooter is powered by Yamaha's 155 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder Blue Core engine equipped with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). In global markets, the engine produces 15 PS at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Power is transmitted through an automatic transmission.
One of the key additions is Yamaha Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (YECVT). The system offers two riding modes: Town and Sport to alter throttle response. It also includes a Downshift function that provides stronger acceleration during overtaking or while riding on inclines.
Features and Equipment
International versions of the NMAX 155 Tech MAX are equipped with a 4.2-inch TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and Garmin navigation support. Other features include Smart Key, USB Type-C charging, automatic start-stop, traction control, hazard lamps and under-seat storage that can accommodate a full-face helmet.
Cycle Parts and Dimensions
The scooter is built on an underbone frame with telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers featuring preload adjustment.
Braking is handled by 230 mm disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. It rides on 13-inch alloy wheels fitted with 110/70 front and 130/70 rear tyres.
The NMAX 155 Tech MAX measures 1,935 mm in length, 740 mm in width and 1,200 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,340 mm. It has a seat height of 770 mm and a wet weight of 135 kg.
Depending on the market, the scooter is offered in Ceramic Grey, Dark Magma, Crystal Graphite and Midnight Black colour options.
Launch Outlook
Yamaha has not announced plans to launch the NMAX 155 Tech MAX in India. However, the design patent filing suggests that the model remains under consideration for the market. If introduced, the scooter is expected to arrive by the end of 2026.
Elctrik Speaks
The premium maxi-scooter segment in India is gradually expanding, and Yamaha already has a presence with the Aerox 155. Filing a design patent for the NMAX 155 Tech MAX keeps the option open for a future launch. If introduced by the end of 2026, the model could offer buyers another option in the premium scooter category with features that are currently available only in select international markets.
