On the occasion of World EV Day, the Indian market for electric two-wheelers has evolved to become a performance-driven arena. Where premium styling, range, and connectivity features are not just options but essentials. Budgets of up to Rs. 5 lakh allow the buyer to get either electric motorcycles which have acceleration comparable to basic ICE models or e-scooters with practicality in urban conditions coupled with the ability to run on highways. These five models form the perfect balance of price and performance in the fast-changing Indian EV scenario.

Ultraviolette F77

The Ultraviolette F77 SuperStreet is marketed as a performance-oriented electric motorcycle at prices starting from Rs 3,09,000 to Rs 4,24,000 (ex-showroom) based on variants. It is equipped with a 7.1 & 10.3 kWh battery packs. Which provides power output of 36.2 & 40.2 bhp and 90 & 100 Nm torque respectively. Resulting in 0-60 km/h acceleration within 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 155 km/h. UV claims the IDC range up to 211 & 323 km on one charge for the high-end variant. As well as three variants of traction control system, ten variants of regenerative braking and Dynamic Stability Control with Anti-lock Braking System.

BMW CE 02

The BMW CE 02 is an advanced and compact electric scooter that retails for Rs 4,49,900 lakh (ex-showroom price) in India. The BMW CE 02 features a battery pack of 3.92 kWh with a 11 kW (or approximately 15 bhp) engine that generates a torque output of 55 Nm. The claimed top speed of the BMW CE 02 is 95 km/h with a tested maximum range of 108 km per charge. The electric scooter has two driving modes namely Flow and Surf while the Flash mode comes with the Highline variant.

TVS X

TVS has made its entry into the high-end e-scooter category with the launch of its TVS X. Priced at around Rs 2,66,141 (on-exshowroom). The vehicle is powered by a 4.44 kWh lithium-ion battery. With an 11.7 kW peak power output permanent magnet synchronous motor. According to the company, the maximum speed that can be attained on the vehicle is 110 km/h and it offers an IDC range between 159 km.

Yamaha Aerox E

The Yamaha Aerox E is an elite electric maxi-scooter introduced with a price of around Rs 2,81,600 lakh (ex-showroom). It employs dual removable 1.5 kWh batteries with a total battery capacity of 3.0 kWh. The PMSM motor mounted in mid position has an output of 9.4 kW (approx. 12.8 bhp) and torque of 48 Nm. It offers a maximum speed of 95.5 km/h and an IDC certified mileage of 117 km. Each battery requires 3 hours and 10 minutes for complete charging, while charging both batteries takes 6 hours and 20 minutes.

Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6

Royal Enfield's first electric motorcycle, Flying Flea C6, has been launched at a price of Rs 2,79,320 (ex-showroom including battery) or Rs 1.99 lakh (Battery as a Service). The Flying Flea C6 comes equipped with a 3.91 kWh lithium-ion battery. A 15.4 kW (about 21bhp) PMSM motor delivering 60 Nm of motor torque. Royal Enfield claims a top speed of 115 km/h, 0-60 km/h acceleration in 3.7 seconds and an IDC range of up to 154 km per charge. The battery can be fast charged from 20-80 percent in 65 minutes, and from 0-100 percent in about 2 hours 16 minutes.
