Vietnam-based Vingroup is preparing to expand into India’s ride-hailing sector through its electric mobility platform, Green SM. The company has started hiring driver partners ahead of its expected market entry, indicating that operations could begin in the coming months.
Social media campaigns released by the company show VinFast-branded electric vehicles carrying Green SM badging. The advertisements appear to target drivers in the NCR region, with Hindi messaging and visuals featuring locations from Delhi. The recruitment campaigns state that drivers could earn up to Rs 40,000 per month along with insurance and performance-linked incentives.

EV Fleet Operations Expected With VinFast Vehicles
Green SM is expected to use VinFast electric vehicles for its cab services in India. VinFast, which is part of the Vingroup ecosystem, is already working on its India expansion plans through a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu.
The latest developments suggest that Vingroup may be looking beyond passenger vehicle sales in India by exploring fleet mobility, ride-hailing operations, and other EV ecosystem opportunities.
Reports Suggest Fare Could Start At Rs 8 Per Km
According to reports, Green SM’s electric cab services may be priced from around Rs 8 per km. However, the company has not officially confirmed pricing or launch timelines yet. If introduced at this pricing, the platform could compete with existing ride-hailing companies such as Uber and Ola in the urban mobility space.
Entry Comes Amid Changes In EV Cab Segment
Green SM’s India entry plans come at a time when the EV-only cab aggregation segment is witnessing changes following the suspension of operations by BluSmart earlier this year. The developments could create opportunities for new electric mobility operators looking to establish a presence in India’s urban transport market.
Elctrik Speaks
Green SM’s expected India entry indicates that global EV-focused mobility companies are beginning to view India not only as a vehicle sales market but also as a fleet mobility opportunity. If the company launches with competitive pricing and dedicated EV operations, it could increase competition in the electric ride-hailing segment, especially in metro cities where demand for app-based mobility services continues to grow.
