VinFast has introduced an exchange programme aimed at owners of petrol and diesel vehicles who are considering a shift to electric mobility. Under this initiative, customers can trade in their internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles for the locally assembled VF 6 or VF 7 electric SUVs.
The programme provides exchange bonuses and financing options through partner banks. The objective is to reduce the upfront cost difference between conventional fuel vehicles and electric vehicles.
Local Assembly and Model Line-up
VinFast has established local assembly operations in Tamil Nadu and has introduced two electric SUVs for the Indian market: the VF 6 and the VF 7. The VF 6 is equipped with a 59.6 kWh battery pack and offers a claimed range of up to 468 km under MIDC testing standards. It supports DC fast charging, with the battery capable of charging from 10 percent to 70 percent in approximately 25 minutes.
The VF 7 is positioned above the VF 6 and is available in higher output variants. Both models are equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and connected vehicle features as standard. The SUVs have received five-star safety ratings under Bharat NCAP.
Exchange Structure and Financial Support
Through the exchange programme, customers receive a valuation for their existing petrol or diesel vehicles, which is adjusted against the purchase price of the electric SUV. Structured payment plans are available to spread the cost over a fixed tenure.
The company states that the exchange format is intended to provide a structured pathway for customers who want to transition to electric vehicles without disposing of their old vehicles independently.
Charging and Service Network Expansion
VinFast is expanding its charging and service infrastructure in India. The company has partnered with dealer groups across multiple cities to establish sales and service outlets. It is also working with V-Green and fuel retail partners to install charging stations, including at existing fuel pump locations.
The ownership package includes extended warranty coverage of up to 10 years, along with complimentary maintenance and limited free charging periods, depending on the plan selected.
