Vietnam-based EV manufacturer VinFast is preparing a multi-segment entry into the Indian market, covering passenger vehicles, fleet mobility and electric two-wheelers. The company’s initial rollout includes an MPV for private buyers, a separate fleet-focused model, and plans for a ride-hailing platform.

MPV Launch for Private and Fleet Buyers

VinFast will introduce its electric MPV in India on April 15. The model will be offered under two names: “VF MPV 7” for private buyers and “Limo Green” for fleet operators.

The MPV is expected to compete with upcoming three-row electric vehicles such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XEV 9S and BYD eMax 7. The design follows VinFast’s global styling seen on models like the VF6 and VF7, with LED light bars, vertical headlamps and a focus on interior space through a boxy structure.

Focus on Fleet and Mobility Services

Alongside vehicle sales, VinFast is also working on a mobility-as-a-service model through its GSM electric cab platform. This move places the company in the ride-hailing segment, in addition to its vehicle manufacturing business. The introduction of the “Limo Green” variant for fleet operators further indicates a focus on commercial EV adoption.

Electric Two-Wheeler Plans

VinFast has confirmed plans to enter the electric two-wheeler segment in the second half of 2026. The initial lineup will include three models: Evo, Feliz II and Viper.

These scooters will be brought to India as completely knocked down (CKD) units and assembled locally at the company’s upcoming facility in Tamil Nadu. VinFast has signed an MoU with the state government and secured approximately 200 hectares of land at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi.

Product Details and Specifications

All three scooters use LFP (Lithium Ferrous Phosphate) battery packs with hub-mounted motors.

  • Evo: Comes with dual 2.4kWh batteries, 2.25kW peak power, 70 kmph top speed, 12-inch wheels, 770mm seat height and 110 kg kerb weight.
  • Feliz II: Equipped with a 3kWh battery and 2.8kW motor, along with 14-inch wheels and an underbone design.
  • Viper: Features a 4.8kWh battery and 3kW motor, also based on an underbone format.

VinFast has also indicated that battery-swapping variants are under consideration.

Localisation and Manufacturing Plans

The Tamil Nadu facility is expected to serve as the assembly base for initial CKD units, with localisation planned in later phases. The company has stated that its products will be adapted for Indian usage conditions.
