Green SM, a ride-hailing company backed by Vietnam's Vingroup, is scheduled to launch its services in India on June 5, 2026. The company will commence operations in the Delhi-NCR region before expanding to other cities in a phased manner. The company already operates in several Southeast Asian markets, including Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Fleet to Consist of VinFast Electric Vehicles

Unlike most app-based mobility platforms that work with driver-owned vehicles, Green SM operates with a fleet made up of vehicles produced by VinFast, the electric vehicle manufacturer owned by Vingroup.

For the Indian market, the company is expected to introduce the Limo Green electric MPV, which is based on the VinFast VF MPV 7. The vehicle is expected to receive a separate certification for commercial fleet operations in India.

Vinfast Limo Green MPV Expected to Lead Initial Deployment

The VinFast VF MPV 7 is equipped with a 60.13 kWh battery pack and features a front-mounted electric motor producing 204 hp and 280 Nm of torque. The model has a claimed ARAI-certified range of 517 km.

The fleet-oriented Limo Green version is expected to feature changes suited for commercial usage, including a revised interior layout and equipment package. Test vehicles seen on Indian roads have carried Green SM branding and featured steel wheels with wheel covers, indicating a configuration tailored for fleet operations. The vehicle is expected to offer a seven-seat layout.

Additional Models May Join Fleet Later

Alongside the Limo Green MPV, the VinFast VF5 electric hatchback is also expected to be added to the fleet at a later stage. Green SM's entry will add another player to India's app-based mobility sector while also expanding the presence of electric vehicles in commercial ride-hailing operations.

Green SM's India launch highlights a model where an automaker and mobility operator are closely linked through a dedicated electric vehicle fleet. As fleet operators increasingly adopt EVs for urban transportation, the performance, charging infrastructure and operational economics of such services will remain key factors influencing their expansion in the Indian market.
