VE Commercial Vehicles Partners With Rosmerta Auto Recycling For Commercial Vehicle Scrapping In NCR

VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), through its Eicher Trucks and Buses business, has partnered with Rosmerta Auto Recycling Pvt. Ltd. (RARPL) to facilitate the authorised scrapping and recycling of end-of-life commercial vehicles in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The partnership will allow Eicher Trucks and Buses dealers and customers to access vehicle scrapping services through a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF). The process will cover documentation, Certificate of Deposit (CoD) generation, vehicle dismantling and recycling.

The development comes as India expands its formal vehicle scrapping network. According to the companies, more than 4.3 lakh vehicles have been scrapped through RVSFs so far.

Commercial Vehicle Scrapping Through RVSFs

Under the partnership, Rosmerta Auto Recycling will assist Eicher dealers and customers with the vehicle scrapping process. This includes registration and documentation under the PARIVARTAN scheme, along with generation of digital Certificates of Deposit through the authorised RVSF network.

The vehicles will undergo depollution and dismantling before materials such as steel, aluminium and other components are processed for recycling. The process will also include documentation related to applicable regulatory requirements and the generation and transfer of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) credits, where applicable.

Benefits Under The PARIVARTAN Scheme

The partnership also covers documentation support for eligible transport vehicles under the PARIVARTAN scheme in the National Capital Region. For transport vehicles purchased against a Certificate of Deposit and covered under the scheme, the applicable benefits include a 100% waiver of road tax or motor vehicle tax for 10 years and an interest subvention of up to 5% of the interest payable on the replacement vehicle, subject to the scheme's eligibility conditions.

Focus On Formal Vehicle Recycling

The vehicle scrapping process is intended to move end-of-life commercial vehicles from informal disposal channels to authorised facilities where vehicles can be dismantled and processed under applicable regulations.

Commercial vehicles generate materials including ferrous and non-ferrous metals at the end of their operating life. Recovering these materials through authorised recycling facilities allows them to be processed for reuse instead of being disposed of through unregulated channels.

The partnership also comes as the government continues to develop the vehicle scrappage framework, including the RVSF system, Certificates of Deposit and the EPR framework for vehicle recycling.

The partnership between VECV and Rosmerta Auto Recycling links an OEM's dealer and customer network with an authorised vehicle recycling facility. For commercial vehicle owners, the arrangement provides a defined route for documentation, issuance of a Certificate of Deposit and recycling of vehicles that have reached the end of their operating life.

The expansion of such channels will depend on the availability of RVSFs, awareness among vehicle owners and the implementation of incentives and regulatory requirements across different states and regions.
