Uno Minda Limited has announced four manufacturing projects involving a combined proposed investment of around ₹1,415 crore. The projects cover new and expanded facilities in Hosur, Kharkhoda, Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The company said the projects are being planned to add production capacity, relocate some existing capacity and support new customer orders.

New Aluminium Casting Plant in Hosur

Uno Minda will set up a new greenfield aluminium casting facility at Thally Road in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The new plant will be built on land already owned by the company.

The project will involve an estimated investment of ₹510 crore. The aluminium casting capacity at the Hosur location is planned to increase from around 13,000 tonnes to 34,000 tonnes at peak capacity.

The project will be developed in phases over the next three years. Phase 1 is expected to start production by Q4 FY28, while the existing Hosur operations are expected to be consolidated and shifted to the new facility by Q1 FY29.

The plant will manufacture aluminium castings for two-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles, covering both internal combustion engine and electric vehicle applications. The facility will also have around 1 million-unit high-pressure die-casting capacity for two-wheeler alloy wheels.

Two-Wheeler Alloy Wheel Plant in Kharkhoda

The company has also approved a 3.3 million-unit two-wheeler alloy wheel plant at Kharkhoda, Haryana. The project will require an estimated additional investment of ₹155 crore. Of the planned capacity, 2 million units will be relocated from the company's existing facility at Supa, Maharashtra.

The Kharkhoda facility will be developed on an existing land parcel located near Uno Minda's other operational and upcoming plants. Phase 1 of the project is expected to begin production by Q4 FY28. The relocation will move part of the company's alloy wheel production capacity from western India to northern India.

Moulding Capacity to be Expanded in Bengaluru

Uno Minda Kyoraku Limited, a subsidiary of Uno Minda, will expand its moulding facility in Bengaluru. The expansion will involve an estimated investment of ₹80 crore. The expanded facility is expected to start operations by Q1 FY28. The company said the project is being undertaken to meet increased demand.

Toyoda Gosei South India to Build Plant in Maharashtra

Toyoda Gosei South India Private Limited, a joint venture between Uno Minda and Japan-based Toyoda Gosei, will establish a new manufacturing plant at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra.

The facility will manufacture interior and exterior automotive components, airbags, hoses and body sealing parts. The project has an estimated investment of ₹670 crore and is expected to start operations by Q4 FY29.

According to Uno Minda, the plant is being set up against new customer orders. It will be the joint venture's third manufacturing facility in India, following plants at Bidadi and Harohalli in Karnataka.

The four projects will add or relocate manufacturing capacity across several automotive component categories. The largest investments are planned for the new aluminium casting facility in Hosur and the Toyoda Gosei South India plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The projects also indicate a shift towards adding capacity closer to major OEM production clusters, while part of the existing two-wheeler alloy wheel capacity will be relocated from Maharashtra to Haryana.
