Tejas Cargo Deploys Blue Energy Motors Electric Truck for Dalmia Cement in Odisha

Tejas Cargo India Limited has deployed an electric heavy-duty truck from Blue Energy Motors for cement transportation operations for Dalmia Cement in Rajgangpur, Odisha.

The truck will be operated by Tejas Cargo and used to support Dalmia Cement’s logistics operations. The deployment brings an electric heavy-duty vehicle into a commercial freight application in the cement sector.

Focus on Freight Emissions

Freight transportation is one of the areas being considered by companies looking to reduce emissions across their supply chains. For businesses, emissions from transportation can form part of Scope 3 emissions, which cover indirect emissions across a company’s value chain.

The use of electric trucks in freight operations is being explored for applications where vehicle routes, charging infrastructure and operating requirements can support their deployment.

Blue Energy Motors' Electric Truck Operations

Blue Energy Motors has been developing electric and LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks for the Indian commercial vehicle market. According to the company, more than 1,400 green heavy-duty trucks from its portfolio are currently operating on freight routes in India. The company has stated that these vehicles have covered more than 122 million kilometres and resulted in a reduction of over 33,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The figures include the company's LNG and electric truck operations and are not specific to the electric truck deployed for Dalmia Cement.

Electric Trucks in Industrial Logistics

The deployment in Rajgangpur adds to the use of electric heavy-duty vehicles in industrial and freight applications in India. Cement transportation involves regular movement of heavy loads between manufacturing facilities, distribution points and customers, making route planning, vehicle range and charging availability important factors for such operations.
