Passenger vehicle sales in February 2026 reflected continued demand for compact SUVs and mass-market hatchbacks, with familiar nameplates retaining their positions in the top 10. A comparison with January 2026 volumes indicates a marginal month-on-month softening across most models, while the overall ranking order remained largely stable.
Nexon and Dzire Continue at the Top
The Tata Nexon remained the highest-selling car in February 2026 with 19,430 units, compared to 23,365 units in January 2026. Despite the month-on-month decline, it retained its leadership position.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire followed closely with 19,326 units in February, down slightly from 19,629 units in January. The compact sedan continued to be the only sedan in the top two positions.
Compact SUVs Maintain Strong Presence
The Tata Punch recorded 18,748 units in February, compared to 19,257 units in January. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta posted 17,938 units in February, almost in line with its January tally of 17,921 units.
Among Maruti Suzuki’s SUV offerings, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza saw sales of 17,863 units in February against 17,486 units in January, registering a month-on-month increase. The Mahindra Scorpio also featured in the list with 14,665 units in February, down from 15,542 units in January.
MPVs and Hatchbacks See Minor Corrections
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga reported 17,807 units in February, slightly lower than 17,892 units in January. In the hatchback segment, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R recorded 14,885 units in February compared to 17,806 units sold by the Maruti Suzuki Swift in January. The Swift itself stood at 14,833 units in February, down from 17,806 units a month earlier.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno closed the February list with 14,632 units, compared to 16,782 units in January.
