Manufacturing Facility To Go Live By 2027
RoadGrid's new manufacturing facility will go live in March 2027. It will have the capability of manufacturing up to 2000 units of Universal EV Chargers per year. Apart from improving its manufacturing capacity, this project is likely to generate more than 100 jobs. Directly involved in local manufacturing and engineering.
Localising entire manufacturing process, including
- Power electronics and Thermal Management Systems
- Embedded Software & Communication modules
- Metering & Control hardware
- Enclosures Fabrication & System Integration
- Quality Testing & Calibration & Final Assembly
Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, Technology Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, said,”The rapid expansion of reliable and interoperable charging infrastructure is fundamental to accelerating electric mobility in India. Indigenous development and manufacturing of advanced EV charging technologies will strengthen the domestic clean mobility ecosystem, reduce import dependence and support the country’s transition towards sustainable transportation. The Technology Development Board remains committed to supporting technology-driven enterprises that are building globally competitive solutions for India’s green mobility future.”
Universal Charger for Various EV Segments
Another notable aspect of the project is the development of RoadGrid's proprietary Universal EV Charger. It is capable of serving various types of electric vehicles through one platform.
Specifications:
- Dual DC charging system at 140 kW
- CCS2 and Type 6 connector support
- AC charging
- Support for electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger EVs, and commercial EVs
The idea behind the development of this type of charger was to make the process of deploying charging facilities easier for charging station providers.
Shashank Narayan, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of RoadGrid India Private Limited, said, “The Technology Development Board’s support is a strong validation of our vision to build advanced EV charging technology in India. It will help us scale manufacturing of our patented Universal EV Charger, strengthen our engineering capabilities and accelerate the deployment of reliable, interoperable charging infrastructure. We believe India has the opportunity to build globally competitive charging technologies that can power the country’s transition to electric mobility.”
ELCTRIK Speaks
RoadGrid's latest funding marks more than just a financial milestone. It reflects growing confidence in India's ability to develop and manufacture advanced EV charging technology locally. As electric vehicle adoption accelerates, scalable and interoperable charging solutions will become increasingly important. If the company delivers on its manufacturing and localisation plans, this project could strengthen India's charging infrastructure while reducing dependence on imported technology. Ultimately, initiatives like these are expected to play a meaningful role in supporting the country's long-term transition to electric mobility.
