Renault has shared details of its long-term plans for India, outlining a product expansion strategy leading up to 2030. As part of this roadmap, the company plans to introduce new models across segments and strengthen its manufacturing presence in the country.
The company is also aiming to position India as a production and export hub, aligning with the government’s “Make in India, Make for the World” initiative. Localisation is expected to remain a key focus.
Bridger SUV Confirmed for India
The production version of the Renault Bridger concept has been confirmed for India. The SUV will be positioned in the sub-4 metre category, a segment known for high sales volumes.
In Renault’s lineup, the Bridger is expected to be placed between the Renault Kiger and the next-generation Renault Duster. It will compete with models such as the Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet.

Renault Bridger: Platform
The Bridger will be based on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP). This architecture is designed to support multiple powertrains, including internal combustion and electric setups.
The SUV is expected to measure under four metres in length, which allows it to qualify for tax benefits in India.

The Bridger is expected to be offered with multiple engine options:
- A 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which will be introduced in India with this model
- A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, currently used in the Kiger
An electric version is also under consideration. The EV variant is expected to use battery packs of up to around 40 kWh, with a claimed range between 250 km and 400 km depending on configuration.
Renault’s EV Plans in India
The Bridger EV is expected to be among Renault’s first models in the mass-market electric segment in India. It is likely to compete with models such as the Tata Nexon EV and upcoming offerings from other manufacturers. The use of a multi-energy platform allows the company to offer both petrol and electric versions within the same model range.
Renault Bridger: Design and Features
The Bridger concept indicates a design focused on SUV proportions. Expected elements include:
- Upright stance and squared body shape
- Body cladding and roof rails
- Large wheels
- Vertical tail lamps and flat roofline
- Tailgate-mounted spare wheel
The front design is expected to follow Renault’s current styling approach with a wide grille and LED headlamps.
Production and Launch Timeline
Production of the Bridger is expected to take place at Renault’s Chennai facility. The plant also serves as an export base for the company. As confirmed by Renault, the SUV is planned for launch in India in 2027. The model is also expected to be exported to international markets.
