The Indian electric vehicle sector has also received a massive boost. The JSW MG Motor Windsor EV is now the top-selling passenger electric vehicle in India for 2025. The vehicle sold 46,735 units in a year. It is a crossover hatchback that outpaced Tata and Mahindra models. It is a positive indicator that cheap electric cars with intelligence can transform the market.
Record Sales Surge
Since its launch on September 11, 2024, and from October onwards, the Windsor EV received an overwhelming response. It registered 15,176 bookings in merely 24 hours. By November 2025, it had reached 50,000 sales in less than 400 days, averaging five sales per hour.

Anurag Mehrotra, JSW MG Motor's Managing Director, said that it is a very important milestone to achieve 50,000 sales in such a short period. He added that it is quite clear that consumers are accepting electric vehicles with open arms, and that is why they have been able to reach this milestone so quickly.
ELCTRIK Speaks
As 2026 gets underway, Windsor's fortunes underline that EVs are starting to gain traction in India. Especially in states whose policies-most notably the PM E-Drive-nurture the infrastructure. Combine all that with a ton of features at an affordable price tag, and you get a market leader. At this price point, it would be very tough for budget-conscious electric car buyers to look elsewhere.
