The Wuling Starlight 560 has been spotted testing again in India after its design was patented in March 2026. The patent filing was submitted by SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Company Limited. The absence of Wuling branding in the patent images indicates that the SUV will be launched under MG Motor India, a joint venture between SAIC Motor and JSW Group.
Test mules of the SUV have been seen multiple times near MG’s Halol facility in Gujarat, suggesting ongoing development for the Indian market.
Wuling Starlight 560: Design and Dimensions
The SUV features a boxy design with an upright stance. It gets a large front grille, LED headlamps with DRLs, and a skid plate at the front. The side profile includes roof rails, cladding, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, it has vertically positioned tail lamps and a roof-mounted spoiler.

In terms of size, the Starlight 560 measures around 4.75 metres in length, 1.85 metres in width, and 1.75 metres in height, with a wheelbase of 2,810mm. It is similar in size to the MG Hector Plus and is expected to be offered in both 5-seat and 7-seat configurations.

Inside, the SUV is equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel, a 3.5-inch instrument display, and a 12.8-inch infotainment system with wireless connectivity. The cabin also includes leatherette seat upholstery and a simple dashboard layout.
Wuling Starlight 560: Powertrain Options
The Starlight 560 is available globally with multiple powertrain configurations. These include a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 1.5-litre petrol-based plug-in hybrid system, and a fully electric version.
The plug-in hybrid setup combines a petrol engine with a 20.5kWh battery, producing around 194hp and 230Nm. The electric-only range is claimed to be up to 100km under the CLTC cycle.
The all-electric version uses a 56.7kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted motor producing around 134hp and 200Nm. The claimed range is up to 500km (CLTC). This setup is similar to the MG Windsor EV sold in India. All variants are front-wheel drive.
Wuling Starlight 560: Expected Positioning in India
The model is likely to enter the Indian market first with the hybrid powertrain, based on the design seen in the patent. The EV version could follow later.
The SUV is expected to compete with models such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. Based on international pricing and positioning, the expected price range in India could extend up to around Rs 19 lakh.
