Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Bioflex Launched in India at Rs 7.24 Lakh
Maruti Suzuki has priced the Wagon R Bioflex at Rs 7.24 lakh (ex-showroom). The flex-fuel version of the hatchback was showcased in production-ready form earlier in June 2026 and is based on the Wagon R ZXi+ 1.2-litre manual variant.
The Bioflex version is currently available only for commercial buyers and carries a price premium of Rs 86,000 over the equivalent petrol-powered ZXi+ manual trim.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Bioflex: Price and Market Positioning
At Rs 7.24 lakh, the Wagon R Bioflex sits above the Wagon R Tour H3 commercial range, which is priced between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 5.89 lakh depending on the fuel option. While the Tour H3 is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine, the Bioflex uses a larger 1.2-litre petrol unit adapted to run on higher ethanol blends.
Maruti Suzuki has not yet disclosed the fuel efficiency figures for the Bioflex version.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Bioflex: Engine
The Wagon R Bioflex is powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated K12N petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
To support E85 fuel, the company has incorporated changes such as revised fuel injectors, an upgraded fuel pump, modified fuel lines, an ethanol sensor and recalibrated engine management software. These updates enable the vehicle to operate on fuel containing up to 85 percent ethanol.
Detailed power, torque and efficiency figures for the Bioflex variant have not been announced. For reference, the standard Wagon R ZXi+ equipped with the same engine produces 91hp and 114Nm of torque.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Bioflex: Exterior and Interior Changes
The Wagon R Bioflex remains largely unchanged in terms of design. The visible differences are limited to flex-fuel decals on the side profile and a Bioflex badge on the tailgate.
Inside, the cabin layout remains the same as the regular Wagon R. The vehicle continues with a dual-tone interior theme, fabric seat upholstery and a three-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flexflex: Features
According to Maruti Suzuki, the Wagon R Bioflex comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety equipment includes six airbags and electronic stability control (ESC).
As it is based on the ZXi+ variant, the model is also expected to include manual air conditioning with rear vents, front fog lamps, rear parking sensors, four speakers and a manually adjustable inside rear-view mirror.
Elctrik Speaks
The introduction of the Wagon R Bioflex adds another flex-fuel option to India's passenger vehicle market and aligns with the government's push towards greater ethanol adoption. However, the vehicle's higher purchase price compared to conventional petrol and commercial Wagon R variants means that operating cost benefits will depend on factors such as fuel availability, ethanol pricing and real-world fuel efficiency. Wider adoption of flex-fuel vehicles is also likely to depend on the expansion of E85 fuel infrastructure across the country.
