Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the e-Vitara electric SUV in India at an introductory Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) price of Rs 10.99 lakh. Under the BaaS model, the cost of the battery is kept separate from the vehicle price. For the 49 kWh version, buyers will need to pay Rs 3.99 per kilometre as battery usage charge. The company states that this estimate is based on an average running of 60 km per day. Charging expenses and applicable taxes are not included in this amount. The e-Vitara is being sold through NEXA dealerships across India and can also be booked online.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara: Exterior Design

The e-Vitara has a compact SUV design. It features three-point matrix LED daytime running lights and LED headlamps. The bumpers have a piano-black finish, and the SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear, it gets LED tail lamps with a three-point light design. While the overall shape is similar to the regular Vitara, it has design changes to highlight its electric version.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara: Variants and Battery Options

The e-Vitara comes in three variants: Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The Delta variant is offered only with a 49 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The Zeta and Alpha variants get a larger 61 kWh LFP battery. The Delta produces 141.8 bhp and 193Nm of torque. The Zeta and Alpha produce 171.6bhp and 193Nm of torque. All variants use a single-speed transmission and front-wheel drive. The claimed driving range is 440 km for the 49 kWh version and 543 km for the 61 kWh version. All variants use a three-phase AC permanent magnet synchronous motor.

With a 7.4 kW AC charger, the 49 kWh battery takes around 6.5 hours to charge fully. The 61 kWh battery takes about 9 hours. Using DC fast charging, both battery options can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 45 minutes.

The e-Vitara measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,700 mm. It has seating for five people. The kerb weight ranges from 1,725 kg for the Delta to 1,815 kg for the Alpha. The battery comes with a warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000 km.

On the inside, the e-Vitara offers ventilated front seats and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. The rear seats can be adjusted for better space use.

Safety features include seven airbags and a Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Other features include a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, keyless entry and ambient lighting.
