Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that its next born-electric SUV, based on the BE.07 concept, will launch in 2027. The concept was first showcased in August 2022. The production model, internally codenamed B07, was earlier expected to arrive in October 2026, indicating a change in the rollout schedule. The final production name has not been announced.
Positioning in the EV Lineup
The upcoming SUV will sit above the BE 6 in the company’s electric portfolio. It will become the second model under the BE sub-brand and the fourth dedicated electric vehicle from the company after the XEV 9e, BE 6 and XEV 9S.
The concept previewed a five-seat SUV measuring around 4.6 metres in length. Compared to some of the company’s recent electric models, the design appeared closer to a conventional SUV body style.
Expected Rivals
Once launched, the BE.07-based SUV is expected to compete with midsize electric SUVs such as the Tata Harrier EV and the VinFast VF7.
Platform and Specifications
The production model is expected to be built on Mahindra’s INGLO skateboard platform, which also underpins its current born-electric vehicles. Battery pack options are likely to range between 60 kWh and 80 kWh, similar to other models in its EV range. Final specifications have not yet been disclosed.
In terms of design, the SUV is expected to carry forward key lighting elements seen on recent Mahindra electric vehicles. The interior is likely to feature a multi-screen layout. It is not yet confirmed whether the company will revise the control layout based on feedback from existing models.
Sales Outlook and Market Context
During a recent earnings call, the company stated that the B07 is expected to contribute to its electric vehicle volumes. At present, Mahindra reports average monthly EV sales of around 4,000 units and aims to increase this to between 6,000 and 7,000 units over the year. Electric vehicle growth has slowed in recent months, and it remains to be seen how demand will develop by the time the new SUV is introduced.
Other Upcoming Plans
Following the launch of the XEV 9S in late 2025 and the XUV 3XO EV in January 2026, Mahindra does not have another electric vehicle scheduled for launch in 2026.
