Kia India is preparing to launch the electric version of the Kia Syros in India. The model is expected to arrive in August 2026, nearly six months later than earlier reports had suggested.
Once launched, the Syros EV is expected to become the company’s entry-level electric vehicle in the Indian market. The EV will join the existing petrol and diesel-powered Syros range as an additional powertrain option.
Kia Syros EV: Platform And Design Details
The Syros EV is expected to be based on the same K1 platform used by the internal combustion engine version. Like several manufacturers in the Indian market, Kia appears to be adapting an existing model for electric mobility instead of developing a separate EV-only platform.

Test vehicles of the Syros EV have already been spotted on public roads in India under camouflage. Based on the sightings, the overall silhouette is expected to remain similar to the standard model, including the tallboy design and boxy proportions.
However, the electric version could receive a few visual changes such as:
- Revised front and rear bumpers
- EV-specific alloy wheel designs
- Charging port mounted on the front fender
- Minor styling updates to differentiate it from the ICE model
Kia Syros EV: Interior And Features
Inside the cabin, the layout is expected to remain largely unchanged compared to the standard Syros. Kia could introduce EV-specific software and display graphics along with changes to upholstery and trim materials.
The Syros EV may also offer features such as:
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)
- Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging support
- EV-specific instrumentation and infotainment updates
It is not yet confirmed whether the electric model will include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), especially after these features were removed from the updated ICE-powered Syros lineup.
Kia Syros EV: Expected Battery And Powertrain
Technical specifications of the Syros EV have not been officially revealed yet. The model is expected to use a front-wheel-drive setup.
Since the K1 platform also supports the globally sold Inster EV, battery pack options similar to the 42kWh and 49kWh units available overseas could be considered for the India-spec version as well.
Expected Price And Rivals
The Kia Syros EV is expected to be priced between Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it is likely to compete with electric SUVs such as the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in the Indian market.
Elctrik Speaks
The launch of the Syros EV reflects the growing trend among manufacturers of introducing electric versions of existing ICE models to expand their EV portfolios with lower development costs and faster market entry. The compact electric SUV segment in India continues to see increased activity as brands look to strengthen their presence in the mass-market EV space.
