Kia India introduced the groundbreaking Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) service today. Designed specifically for its highly successful and innovative Carens Clavis EV model. Since the launch of the first Made-In-India EV by Kia in 2025, the innovative electric vehicle featuring a stylish look and impressive technology has been receiving wide attention. Today, with BaaS, the automaker seeks to attract even more people to switch to environmentally friendly transport in response to India's growing electric vehicles sector.
Relevance of BaaS at the Current Time
In India, where a boom in the electric vehicle industry is seen due to new policy and improved infrastructure. Kia India, riding the wave of success of its new electric car, decides to address the issue of high battery cost. With BaaS, the company offers two separate financing deals for the body and the battery, with ICICI Bank, HDFC, Axis, Kotak, and Bajaj Finserv backing the project.
- Affordable Access: EMI for the chassis starts at ₹51,520 per month (for 60 months), while the battery cost works out to ₹3.3 per kilometer (for 96 months).
- Double Flexibility: Go by the amount used, exchange batteries whenever required, and avoid costs of complete replacements in the future.
Mr. Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India commented on the launch of BaaS Program, “At Kia India, sustainability is not limited to introducing electric vehicles, but about creating a complete ecosystem that makes EV adoption easier and more practical for customers. The Battery-as-a-Service model is a strategic step in that direction, enabling customers to experience advanced EV technology with reduced upfront acquisition costs and greater financial flexibility. This initiative aligns with our broader vision of shaping a smarter and more sustainable mobility future for India with our first made-in-India electric vehicle, the Kia Carens Calvis EV.”

ELCTRIK Speaks
