A design patent for an SUV based on the Jetour T2 has been filed in India. The filing was submitted by Chery Automobile, the parent company of the Jetour brand. The patent application was filed on December 18, 2025, and was approved on February 27, 2026.
The SUV is expected to be the first model introduced by JSW Motors in the Indian market. The company had recently released a teaser indicating that it is preparing to introduce the vehicle while beginning dealer recruitment in the country. The launch is currently planned around the Diwali 2026 period.
Design Details Seen In Patent Images
The design drawings indicate that the India-bound SUV may retain most of the styling elements of the international-spec Jetour T2.
At the front, the SUV features square-shaped LED headlamps connected by a black trim strip with six rectangular blocks. On the global model, this section carries Jetour branding, but the India-spec model is expected to feature JSW branding instead.
The front section also shows a honeycomb-pattern grille and a bumper with a single fog lamp and two sets of pixel-style daytime running lights on each side. The bonnet includes contour lines and grab handles on both sides.
From the side profile, the patent images show door-mounted outside rearview mirrors. This differs from the teaser image released earlier, where the mirrors appeared to be mounted on the A-pillars. Other elements such as alloy wheels, wheel-arch cladding and window lines appear similar to the global model.
The roof rails also show small design differences compared to the international version. The rear design is not visible in the patent drawings.
Powertrain Details Of The Jetour T2
The SUV is expected to use the plug-in hybrid i-DM powertrain available in the Jetour T2 sold in other markets. This system combines a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 156hp with a 26.7kWh battery pack. The setup can be paired with either a single front-mounted motor for front-wheel drive or a dual-motor system for all-wheel drive.
In the all-wheel-drive configuration, the combined output is rated at 381hp and 610Nm. Power is transmitted through a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). The battery pack offers a claimed electric-only range of 139km (NEDC cycle). The combined driving range is stated to be over 1,000km.
Expected Manufacturing And Price Range
The Jetour T2-based SUV is expected to be assembled in India at JSW Motors’ upcoming plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), Maharashtra. The expected price range for the model is between ₹15 lakh and ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom).
