Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) marked 30 years of operations in India. The company reported cumulative sales of over 13.5 million units since its entry in 1996, including 9.6 million units in the domestic market and more than 3.9 million units exported to over 150 countries.
Investment and Localization
HMIL stated that it has invested Rs 40,700 crore in India since inception. The company has outlined a further investment plan of Rs 45,000 crore between FY26 and FY30. This investment will be directed towards manufacturing expansion, electrification, and new product development. The company also reported an average localization level of 82%, indicating the extent of domestic sourcing in its production operations.

Manufacturing Capacity
Hyundai began its India operations with a manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, which was commissioned in 1998. In 2025, the company operationalized an additional facility in Talegaon, Pune. The combined annual production capacity of these facilities stands at 9.94 lakh units, with plans to increase capacity to 10.74 lakh units by 2028.
Sales and Service Network
HMIL operates over 1,500 sales outlets across more than 1,100 cities, covering a significant portion of the country’s districts. Its aftersales network includes 1,675 service touchpoints across 1,025 cities, supported by over 50,000 service personnel.
The company reported a Net Promoter Score of 91.5% and noted the use of digital tools such as online repair orders, remote diagnostics, and live service updates at select workshops.
Exports Performance
Hyundai Motor India reported cumulative exports of over 3.9 million units. Key export markets include regions in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Models such as the Hyundai Verna, Grand i10 NIOS, and Aura contribute to export volumes.
Sustainability Measures
The company stated that its offices and manufacturing facilities in India operate on 100% renewable energy under the RE100 initiative. It has also implemented water recycling and rainwater harvesting systems at its Chennai facility, along with zero liquid discharge processes.
Hyundai reported completion of over 350 energy efficiency projects in the last five years.
CSR and Community Programs
Through Hyundai Motor India Foundation, the company reported spending over Rs 803 crore on CSR initiatives since 2014. These programs focus on education, healthcare, environment, and skill development, reaching an estimated 2.2 million beneficiaries annually. HMIL stated that it has created between 15,000 and 18,000 direct jobs and supported indirect employment for approximately 350,000 to 450,000 people through its ecosystem.
Future Product and Technology Plans
The company plans to introduce 26 new products and variants by FY2030. These will include internal combustion engine models as well as electric vehicles as part of its electrification strategy.
