Green SM has launched its fully electric taxi service, Green SM Limo, in India, marking the company's entry into its fifth international market after Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

The service was launched in New Delhi on June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day. The event was attended by representatives from government agencies, industry stakeholders, and officials associated with India-Vietnam cooperation initiatives.

Operations To Begin In Delhi NCR

In the initial phase, Green SM Limo will operate across key locations in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR). The company stated that service coverage will be expanded gradually based on demand.

The fleet will comprise the VinFast Limo Green, a seven-seater electric SUV developed for passenger transport applications. The vehicles are expected to cater to various use cases, including daily commuting, airport transfers, family travel, and business transportation.

Vehicle Features And Safety Systems

According to the company, the vehicles are equipped with onboard amenities such as drinking water and wet tissues for passengers.

Green SM Limo vehicles also feature a safety system that includes interior and exterior cameras, AI-enabled monitoring technology, and emergency support buttons for both drivers and passengers.

Driver Training And Service Standards

The company said its drivers undergo training covering electric vehicle operations, road safety practices, and customer service. Green SM refers to its driver network as "Green Drivers."

Bookings can be made through the Green SM mobile application, available on Android and iOS platforms. Customers can also access the service through the company's hotline or by hailing vehicles in operating zones.

Partnership Initiative Introduced

Alongside the launch, Green SM announced the onboarding of five India-based partners into its Green Alliance Frontier initiative. The platform brings together businesses from sectors such as mobility, travel, technology, and services with a focus on sustainability-related collaboration.

Expanding International Presence

Founded in Vietnam in 2023, Green SM now operates electric mobility services across Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, and India. The company said the India launch forms part of its broader international expansion strategy and will introduce its electric ride-hailing model to one of the world's largest mobility markets.

Nguyen Van Thanh, GSM Global CEO said: “India is one of the most important mobility markets in the world. Its scale, rapid growth, and strong spirit of innovation are opening up many opportunities for the future of green transportation. We come to India with respect for the market, confidence in its long-term potential, and a commitment to working closely with local partners. Green SM hopes to bring high-quality fully electric rides to customers, while contributing to broader access to safe, reliable, and more sustainable mobility choices. We believe trust is the most important foundation for long-term growth. This is also what Green SM hopes to build with customers, partners, and communities in India in the years ahead”.

Elctrik Speaks

The entry of Green SM adds another player to India's evolving electric mobility ecosystem, particularly in the fleet and ride-hailing segment. While electric taxis have been introduced by multiple operators over the years, large-scale adoption remains dependent on factors such as charging infrastructure availability, vehicle economics, and customer acceptance. Green SM's deployment of a dedicated electric fleet in Delhi NCR will be closely watched as the market continues to transition towards cleaner transportation alternatives.
