Drivn and BillionE Partnership
Drivn and BillionE Mobility have entered into a strategic leasing arrangement to roll out 200 electric trucks in India. Making yet another move towards greener freight movement. Phase 1 of the initiative will kick off with the deployment of 22 electric trucks. They will be used by a customer in the cement industry on a long-term contract.
This partnership is not merely aimed at rolling out more electric trucks on Indian roads. On the contrary, vehicle deployment, along with charging services. It has been termed as a must for large-scale electrification of freight movement.
Alpna Jain, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer, Drivn, said, "Electric trucks scale only when the right ecosystem is in place. Reliable charging infrastructure, alignment across partners, and disciplined on-ground execution are all critical to making large-scale deployments successful. Through our partnership with BillionE Mobility, we are focused on ensuring high vehicle uptime, operational consistency, and efficiency across every trip. This deployment demonstrates that EV freight is not just about replacing diesel trucks, but about building a logistics model that delivers both environmental and operational benefits."
Phase One Kicks Off
The first phase, involving the deployment of 22 trucks. It is important since it provides the project its earliest opportunity for practical application. Connecting the trucks with an off-taker in the cement sector means that the collaboration is focused on an industry that requires constant logistics and uptime.
The two companies said the framework will allow them to conduct tests and grow operations within actual conditions. Moreover, the agreement lays the foundation for further growth in accordance with the 200-truck project.
Important details from the first phase include:
- There will be 22 electric trucks at the start of the project.
- The trucks will cater to a cement-industry off-taker.
- The agreement is of a long-term nature.
Emissions and Efficiency
The companies claimed that such deployment would help save over 4,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually compared to standard diesel-powered trucks. Thus, it can be claimed that the project is relevant not only from the logistics standpoint but also from an environmental point of view.
Electric freight transportation is generally considered a tougher nut to crack. When compared to passenger transport due to factors like the need for longer ranges. Higher payload capacities and special charging infrastructure. The deal can be interpreted as a sign that the commercial vehicle sector is receiving a more organized approach from the leasing and mobility providers.
Kartikey Hariyani, Founder, & Sanjeev Kulkarni, CEO, BillionE Mobility, said, “At BillionE Mobility, we’re not just imagining the future of mobility – we’re building it. Electrifying India's freight sector is a collaborative effort. By partnering with Drivn, we are combining technology, operations, and financing to remove key barriers to EV adoption. Together, we look forward to helping customers transition to cleaner, more efficient logistics. ”
ELCTRIK Speaks
The partnership is crucial since it illustrates rising interest in electric trucks beyond the scope of pilots. The successful implementation of this deployment can become an additional incentive for using the technology in logistics-heavy industries.
It should be noted that the conversation about EVs in India is broadening beyond passenger cars. The heavy commercial freight transport industry becomes increasingly relevant in the context of the electrification efforts.
