Denza-BYD Partnership History
Denza was established in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz later reduced its stake before exiting the partnership completely in 2024, leaving BYD as the sole owner. The brand currently sells vehicles in markets including China, Southeast Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America. Its portfolio includes electric and plug-in hybrid models.
Elctrik Speaks
Denza’s entry adds another premium EV brand to the Indian market, with its initial product plan focused on the electric luxury segment. The Z9 GT would also bring a shooting-brake body style to a market where this format remains limited, while the D9 will enter the growing luxury MPV segment. The key factors to watch will be Denza’s final India pricing, homologation specifications, charging infrastructure support and launch timeline.
