BMW has revealed the M Concept Neue Klasse ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, providing an early look at the design and technology expected to feature in its future electric M models, including the upcoming all-electric BMW M3.
The concept is based on BMW's Neue Klasse platform and combines a new design language with an electric performance-focused drivetrain developed by BMW M.
BMW Electric M3: Exterior Design
The M Concept Neue Klasse features wider wheel arches, a revised front-end design, and a more pronounced shark-nose profile. A V-shaped bonnet vent has been integrated to assist in cooling the electric powertrain, while the headlights and kidney grille are combined into a single design element.
BMW has introduced yellow lighting elements in the headlight graphics, a feature inspired by its motorsport programmes. The front bumper adopts a three-part layout, which BMW refers to as a trimaran-inspired design, incorporating aerodynamic components such as a front splitter.
At the rear, the concept includes a ducktail spoiler, diffuser, and a matching bumper design. Additional lighting elements, referred to as Track Lights, have been integrated into both the front and rear sections.
The concept is finished in a new Monza Red metallic paint shade. Natural fibre materials have been used in several exterior components, including the front splitter, bonnet air outlet, and rear diffuser.
BMW Electric M3: Interior Layout
Inside, the cabin is configured around a driver-focused layout. The concept features four bucket seats with a two-tone leather finish and integrated natural-fibre structural elements. Five-point seat belts and a roll bar further highlight the vehicle's performance-oriented intent.
BMW has used black nubuck leather on the steering wheel, door panels, and roll bar. The dashboard incorporates a knitted material finish with illuminated hexagonal patterns, while red accents appear on controls and digital displays.
BMW Electric M3: Electric Performance Platform
The M Concept Neue Klasse is powered by BMW M eDrive, a new electric performance system developed specifically for future BMW M vehicles.
The setup combines four electric motors with BMW M Dynamic Performance Control software, which manages power delivery and braking functions individually at each wheel. According to BMW, the system has been designed to improve traction, vehicle control, energy recuperation, and response times.
The concept uses BMW's sixth-generation electric vehicle architecture, featuring an 800-volt electrical system and a battery pack with an energy capacity of more than 100kWh. BMW says the battery structure is integrated into the vehicle's chassis and contributes to overall vehicle dynamics.
While BMW has not disclosed final performance figures for the production version, reports suggest the future electric M3 could deliver outputs approaching 1,000kW.
