For BMW India, September 11, 2026 has been earmarked as the official launch date for the refreshed line-up of 7 Series luxury sedans. Comprising both internal combustion engine models and the all-electric i7 variant. Online booking facility was rolled out from August 1, 2026 for the refreshed 7 Series models.

External and Internal Upgrades

With the refresh, the 7 Series models have received upgraded styling cues along with a sculpted front end design. New lighting signatures that give them the modern BMW look. On the inside, the BMW Panoramic iDrive technology has been implemented in the dashboard. Where the whole dashboard acts as an interactive screen.

Interior Features:

  • A 17.9-inch infotainment display that runs on the new BMW OS as the main controller.
  • A 14.6-inch entertainment display at the front passenger seat that is used for entertainment purposes.
  • New four-spoke steering wheel and ambient light bar.
  • Bower & Wills surround sound system having 18 speakers in total with Dolby Atmos.
  • In the rear seats, there is a 31.3 inch, 8k touch screen infotainment system. It is attached to the roof and can be folded down; it is used to watch videos or play games.

Engine Range: Petrol, Diesel, and Electric

The petrol and diesel inline six engine series has been overhauled. But the mild hybrid architecture has remained the same under the hood for BMW.

  • 740i xDrive (Petrol): 3.0-litre inline six-petrol mild hybrid engine that has been tuned to provide about 400 bhp and 580 Nm.
  • 740d xDrive (Diesel): The same 3.0-litre diesel engine, but with a power output of about 313 bhp and 670 Nm.
  • Both these variants have an eight-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive as standard features.

Electric i7 variants

For the electric i7 facelift, there have been some improvements in battery size and performance figures:

  • Battery size has increased to the 112.4-112.5 kWh range. Up from the pre-facelift battery size.
  • i7 xDrive50: dual motor AWD configuration with a power output of about 455 hp (≈461 PS) and 660 Nm. International WLTP range claims up to 728 km.
  • More powerful variants of i7 xDrive60 and i7 M70 xDrive with power outputs of about 544 hp/745 Nm and 680 hp/1,015 Nm are expected, which will take around 3.8-5.5 seconds to

Estimated Price Range in India

There hasn’t been any announcement of BMW’s official India prices. But some early estimations made by market watchers include:

  • 7 Series (petrol/diesel): Beginning around ₹1.85 crore (Ex-showroom), roughly the same as the present generation.
  • i7 electric: Estimated to start at around ₹2.10 crore for the xDrive50 version, rising up to ₹2.58 to 2.60 crore for the flagship M70 xDrive version (all Ex-showroom).

With the increased battery capacity, AWD is standard even on the base i7. The 8K screen in the back, the refreshed i7 becomes very attractive for chauffeur-driven buyers.
