Bajaj Auto has announced that new 350cc motorcycles under the Triumph Motorcycles brand will be introduced in India by April 2026. The confirmation came from Managing Director and CEO Rajiv Bajaj during a recent interaction. The new motorcycles will be placed below the current 400cc Triumph models sold in the country.

Lower Engine Capacity May Reduce GST

At present, Triumph’s entry-level motorcycles in India use a 399cc engine. Motorcycles above 350cc attract 28 percent GST along with an additional cess, which increases the total tax to about 40 percent.

If the engine size is reduced to below 350cc, the new motorcycles will fall under the 18 percent GST slab. This change in tax category could help in setting lower prices compared to the existing 400cc range.

Engine Expected to Be Based on Existing 399cc Unit

The upcoming 350cc motorcycles are expected to use a modified version of the existing 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is currently being used in Speed 400, Speed T4, Triumph Scrambler 400 X and more.

Reports suggests that the engine capacity may be reduced by altering the bore dimensions to bring displacement under 350cc. The current 399cc unit produces around 40hp and 37.5Nm of torque. With the reduced displacement, power output is expected to decrease slightly. Official specifications have not yet been released.

Similar Move Possible for KTM and Bajaj Models

Bajaj is also said to be studying a similar plan for models developed with KTM. Its own motorcycles, including the Dominar 400 and Pulsar NS400Z, could also be revised in the future. However, there is no official timeline for these changes.

More details about the new Triumph 350cc motorcycles, including prices and specifications, are expected closer to the launch.
