Bajaj Auto has put into the market its latest entrant into India's buzzing electric scooter market, the Chetak C25. Launched on January 14, 2026. This model targets the dabba-wallahs of Gurugram and elsewhere in the country, for whom a short commute is ruled by traffic jams. Priced sharply at ₹ 91,399 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It undercuts rivals and promises to provide practical green mobility for first-timers.

Launch Buzz and Availability

The unveiling came just days ago, with deliveries starting off immediately at Chetak stores across the country. Coming perfectly in the wake of increasing EV adoption, fueled by schemes like PM E-Drive. Early buzz has centred on it leading to an accessible electric two-wheeler, particularly as competitors such as Ola and Ather push premium options.

Powertrain and Range Analysis

In the middle, there’s a floorboard-mounted 2.5 kWh battery and a hub-mounted 2.2 kW motor. The real-world benefits include:

  1. Battery range of 113 km per charge, which is perfect for closing the loop.
  2. Top speed limited to 55 kmph for safe commuting.
  3. Quick charge: Charge to 0-80% in 2.5 hours through standard charger (750W), and charge fully in under 4 hours.

This not only keeps things simple, but it’s also very economical. Avoids the battery swap system required in the higher variants of the Chetak.

Design Tweeks

The C25 retains the brand’s neo-classic metallic body. But goes slender for agility, tipping the scales at a mere 107-108kg with a low 780mm seat height. New elements such as a restyled front apron make it more polished. Storage performance is where it excels.

  1. 25 liters, under the seat for helmets and bags.
  2. Parking aid with reverse assist and easy-open glove box.
  3. Six colors can add some pizzazz to the pattern, ranging from vibrant reds to neutral greys.

Notable Attributes and Security Pack

Tech spending is not cut. Riders are treated to an LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity to answer calls and listen to music. Safety elements bring punch:

  1. LEDs all around.
  2. Disc brakes with a twin-sided swingarm.
  3. Hill-hold assist and IP67 battery/motor against rain and dust.
  4. A key ignition system ensures that everything is very straightforward. It does not require the use of apps to start.

What Bajaj Says?

“The Chetak C25 embodies the emerging trend of mobility use in cities. Shorter distances, more compact roads, and the evolving necessity to move independently,” said Eric Vas, President of Urbanite Business at Bajaj. The statement highlights the strategy of making the product more accessible to customers as the Indian government promotes the use of EVs.

ELCTRIK Speaks

The Bajaj Chetak C25 perfectly fills the gap present in the Indian market for an EV scooter. It does so while keeping its price as low as Rs 91,399. The scooter’s 113 km range and uncomplicated specifications make it the winner of the day for its commutability. Although tests would be required to know whether it's the ‘real deal’ or not. The entry of Bajaj into the market is an indication of tough competition that is required and sought for those looking for green vehicles like the Chetak.
