Ather Energy announced that its electric scooter Rizta has crossed the 3 lakh unit sales mark within two years of launch. Introduced in April 2024, the Rizta was positioned as the company’s first family-oriented scooter.
According to the company, the scooter reached the 1 lakh sales milestone within 11 months of launch and added the next 2 lakh units over the following 11 months. The company also stated that the Rizta crossed the 2 lakh sales mark in December 2025 and added another 1 lakh units within five months.
Rizta accounted for majority of Ather sales in FY26
The company said the Rizta contributed 76% of its overall sales volumes during FY26, making it Ather’s highest-selling model during the year. Ather stated that the scooter helped expand its presence in markets outside Southern India. Based on Vahan and Telangana Vehicle Online Sales data, the company’s market share in states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha increased from 4.1% in Q1 FY25 to 17.3% in Q4 FY26. The company also reported growth in northern markets such as Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during the same period.

Focus on family buyers and daily commuting
According to the company, around 70% of Rizta buyers are families with children. The scooter includes features such as a large seat, floorboard space and 56 litres of total storage capacity, including under-seat storage and front storage space. The Rizta also comes with features including SkidControl, theft alerts and tow alerts.
Software update rolled out through OTA
In September 2025, Ather introduced a touchscreen interface update for Rizta Z customers through an over-the-air software update based on the company’s Atherstack 7 platform. The update was made available to existing users as well.

The Rizta has emerged as Ather’s key volume driver at a time when the electric two-wheeler market is seeing increased focus on family-oriented products. The scooter’s contribution to Ather’s overall sales indicates a shift in consumer demand towards practical EVs designed for daily commuting and household usage.
