ACMA 66th Annual Conference
The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) Mobility Foundation conducted the 66th Annual General Meeting in New Delhi on September 2, 2026. Under the theme “Beyond Resilience.” The annual meeting included policymakers, automobile manufacturers, component suppliers, foreign parties, and industry experts. To deliberate on the next phase of growth of India in the global automotive value chain.
As per the Indian auto components industry’s target for the valuation of $200 billion by 2030. Deliberations revolved around making the shift from managing disruptions to a strong position in global manufacturing and sourcing.
H.D. Kumaraswamy, Minister for Heavy Industries & Steel, Government of India, said: “The theme ‘Beyond Resilience’ captures the ambition that must guide the Indian industry. The automotive and auto components industry is central to this journey. Over the past year, our government, under the able leadership of PM Narender Modi ji, has focused on translating policy intent into measurable outcomes. The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for automobiles and auto components is showing encouraging results. Our schemes are supporting investment, domestic value addition, advanced technology manufacturing and the transition to cleaner mobility.”
Auto Component Industry Registers High Turnover
As per ACMA, the Indian auto component industry generated ₹7.6 lakh crore ($85.9 billion) turnover in FY26 with a YoY growth of 12.7%. The industry grew two folds in the past five years whereas supplies to the OEMs registered a growth of 16.3%.
Exports touched a high level of $24 billion and made India the most competitive place for sourcing. ACMA stated that the Indian suppliers are able to take advantage of global supply chain shifts through innovation, quality, and manufacturing scale.
The report titled “Beyond Resilience” issued by ACMA & BCG during the session reinforced the optimism in the industry. Close to 90 percent of auto components firms in large, medium, and small enterprises claimed that they were “in the right place at the right time.”
Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce & Industry, Government of India said, “ACMA and its members have been a pillar of support in all international FTAs and agreements done by the country. In this global turmoil, India is the one country that has stayed the course and has continued to be the fastest-growing among the large economies of the world. The 7.8% growth of India is a reality, and we know the strengths that young India brings to the table. All of these are signs that India can do much more. The story has just begun.”
Industry 5.0 Puts Forth New Growth Momentum
One of the primary topics discussed at the event was the transformation of the industry into Industry 5.0. According to ACMA, the technologies that will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of manufacturing include artificial intelligence, automation, robotics and the IoT, together with human skills.
Harjinder Kang, Trade Commissioner for South Asia and British Deputy High Commissioner for Western India, Government of UK said, “CETA provides a strong platform to deepen India–UK automotive collaboration by expanding market access, enabling greater two-way investment and integrating Indian suppliers, particularly MSMEs, into global value chains. By simplifying trade processes and strengthening cooperation in advanced mobility, innovation and sustainable manufacturing, we can build more resilient supply chains and create long-term value for both countries.”
The association also emphasized the significance of skill development in artificial intelligence, robotics, automation and digital manufacturing. Besides technological advancements, energy efficiency, circular manufacturing and sustainable production practices. They have become increasingly vital to compete in global markets.
Vikrampati Singhania, President, ACMA and Managing Director, JK Fenner, said: “Over the past several years, resilience has defined our industry. We have navigated a pandemic, supply-chain disruptions, geopolitical conflicts, commodity volatility and profound changes in markets and mobility. Each time, the Indian automotive industry has adapted and emerged stronger. But resilience is about responding to change. Leadership is about shaping it. And I believe that is where India must now set its sights.”
FTAs Will Lead to Greater Market Access
The annual meeting ended with a valedictory discussion on "FTAs - Exploring Newer Avenues for the Indian Auto Component Industry." The representatives from the UK and US explained how the change in trade agreements would create export opportunities for Indian auto component manufacturers.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor emphasized India and the US as ideal partners for each other when it comes to market access and two-way investment.
Sergio Gor, Ambassador of the United States of America to India said, “The United States and India are natural partners, and the automotive sector is a great example of what we can achieve together. Greater market access, more two-way investment, and deeper ties between American and Indian suppliers- especially small and medium businesses which will create real jobs, stronger supply chains, and new opportunities in advanced manufacturing and mobility. That is a win-win for both our countries.”
ELCTRIK Speaks
The automobile parts industry in India seems to be approaching an era wherein resilience alone will not suffice. The combination of increased exports, technological usage, and localization can allow the companies in India to gain a competitive edge in the international market. Nevertheless, reaching the goal of $200 billion by 2030 would demand constant investments in skilled labor, innovation, and sophisticated manufacturing. With joint efforts from industry and government, India can enhance its standing as a dependable global center for automobile parts.
