Lexus has introduced the eighth-generation ES sedan in the United States, with both hybrid and battery-electric variants available. Announced on May 1, 2026, the lineup includes the ES 350h hybrid alongside the all-electric ES 350e and ES 500e models.

The ES 350h uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine combined with electric motors as part of the brand’s sixth-generation hybrid system. The system produces 244 hp. For the first time in the ES hybrid range, an all-wheel-drive option is offered through a rear-mounted electric motor.

The battery-electric ES 350e and ES 500e models use a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery placed under the floor. The ES 350e is front-wheel drive, while the ES 500e adds a second motor on the rear axle for all-wheel drive.

New Platform Architecture

All variants are built on a new multi-pathway platform derived from the TNGA-K architecture. This is the first time Lexus has used a single platform to support both internal combustion-based hybrid systems and battery-electric powertrains.

The hybrid model includes a fuel tank and battery under the rear seat, while the electric variants house their battery pack beneath the cabin floor. Despite differences in powertrain layout, all versions share the same body structure and overall design.

2026 Lexus ES: Design and Dimensions

The new ES follows design elements seen on the LF-ZC concept. Exterior updates include revised lighting elements, a continuous rear light bar, and changes to the front design between hybrid and electric versions.

Compared to the previous generation, the sedan is larger in multiple dimensions, including wheelbase, width, length, and height. These changes result in increased cabin space, including more headroom, legroom, and shoulder room. The hybrid model retains a conventional fuel filler door, while the electric variants feature a charging port located on the front fender.

2026 Lexus ES: Interior and Features

Inside, the ES adopts a simplified layout with updated displays and controls. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch central touchscreen are standard across the range, running the latest Lexus Interface system.

Other standard features include dual-zone climate control, powered front seats with heating and ventilation, and a digital control panel for vehicle functions. The model also introduces Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, which includes driver assistance features.

Pricing and Availability

In the United States, the ES 350h is priced from $49,700, with the all-wheel-drive version starting at $51,100. The ES 350e starts at $47,500, while the ES 500e AWD is priced from $50,500.

Deliveries of the ES 350h are scheduled to begin in June 2026. The model is manufactured at Toyota Motor Kyushu in Japan.
