MG Motor India had also announced Windsor EV price hike that will become operative from 1 January, 2025. This marks the first ever price hike by the company in a market place, which happens to be witnessing significant dynamic change over the course of electric vehicle development in the country.
Windsor EV Price Hike Across Variants
The price increase affects all three variants of the Windsor EV, with an overall hike of ₹50,000. The new ex-showroom prices are as follows:
- Excite Variant: Now priced at ₹13,99,800 (previously ₹13,49,800)
- Exclusive Variant: Now priced at ₹14,99,800 (previously ₹14,49,800)
- Essence Variant: Now priced at ₹15,99,800 (previously ₹15,49,800)
This change is valued in percentage increase that ranges between 3.25% to 3.70% between the versions. The firm has informed the public that the price increase will be adjusted upwards to the same cost inflation, and its operation will have to be sustained.
Withdrawal of Free Charging Promotion
MG Motor also announced the disconnection of complimentary charging from its application called the MG e-hub. The first owner of the Windsor EV is offered free-of-cost charging for his vehicle from designated charging stations. Though that might not bring a lot of excitement, MG offers lifetime battery warranty to the first owner and 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty to other owners.
This vehicle is laden with the best technology and safety features designed keeping in mind Indian consumers. Few of the significant features are listed below:
- Long Range: The range of the Windsor EV on a single charge is impressive and suits both urban commute and long distance travel.
- Smart Connectivity: Users can access information on charging stations and vehicle performance in real time through the MG app.
- Safety Features: The car is equipped with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and advanced driver-assistance systems to ensure safe driving.
Market Response and Consumer Sentiment towards Windsor EV Price Hike
Consumers and industry analysts alike have been left with mixed reactions to the announced price hike. Many prospective buyers expressed dismay at the hike, especially since many of them were looking for further price cuts as the competition in the electric vehicle space intensifies.
JSW MG Motor India’s Director, Parth Jindal, made a comment that “the Windsor EV represents a significant milestone for our brand.” He made the decision under considerations of the conditions of the market and running cost. Moreover, Jindal added, “the Windsor sets a new benchmark in the sphere of innovation as well as a customer experience when it comes to electric vehicles.”
