Porsche has introduced two new versions of the Macan EV in India, including an entry-level model with a rear-wheel-drive layout. Consequently, the starting price for the Porsche Macan EV is now Rs 1.23 crore (ex-showroom).
In addition to the new entry-level variant, Porsche has also introduced the Macan 4S EV, priced at Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom). Furthermore, the price of the Macan EV Turbo has been increased from Rs 1.65 crore to Rs 1.69 crore (ex-showroom).
As mentioned, the newly introduced entry-level Porsche Macan comes with a single electric motor that powers only the rear wheels. This motor generates 360 horsepower and 563 Nm of peak torque in the base Macan EV. With its advanced electronic aids and the immediate torque from its electric powertrain, the new entry-level Porsche Macan can reach 100 Kmph from a complete stop in just 5.7 seconds, and it has a top speed of 220 Kmph.
In contrast, the newly launched Porsche Macan 4S EV features dual electric motors that drive both the front and rear wheels. These motors combine to deliver 385.3 kW and 820 Nm of peak torque. Thanks to its more powerful electric powertrain and enhanced traction from its all-wheel-drive system, the Porsche Macan 4S EV can accelerate to 100 Kmph in just 4.1 seconds. Additionally, the increased power allows it to reach a top speed of 240 Kmph.
All three variants of the Porsche Macan EV feature a 100 kWh battery pack. However, the base variant, with its efficient single-electric motor, provides the longest range, offering 641 Km on a full charge. In comparison, the high-end Porsche Macan Turbo EV provides a range of 591 Km on a full charge, while the mid-spec Porsche Macan 4S EV offers a range of 606 Km with a fully charged battery.
Along with the introduction of two new variants of the Macan EV SUV, Porsche has introduced a new Slate Grey Neo color option and 20-inch wheels to the model lineup. There is also a new off-road design package available for all variants, which raises ground clearance by 10 mm and improves the approach angle.
It is also worth mentioning that the Porsche Macan EV range uses an 800V architecture, which enables the model to use chargers as powerful as 270 kW DC. Using such chargers, the model can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 21 minutes.
Bookings for the newly launched variants of Porsche Macan EV are already open and its primary rivals include other luxury electric SUVs such as Audi Q8 e-Tron, Mercedes-Benz EQE, and BMW iX.
The Verdict:
The updated pricing underscores Porsche’s dominance in the luxury EV sector in India. By introducing two new variants, Porsche demonstrates its strategy to appeal to a broader audience and attract more customers to its dealerships with premium, eco-friendly options. This diverse lineup allows consumers to select a model that fits their budget and needs, strengthening Porsche’s market presence and giving it an edge over competitors. This move is seen as a strategic masterstroke by Porsche both in India and overseas.
