Unveiled as concept art last year, one of Ola’s motorcycles might debut its production-ready version on this Independence Day, August 15th. The CEO of Ola Electric posted a photo on his official X (formerly Twitter) account showing a battery pack within a tubular frame, hinting that it belongs to one of the three recently patented motorcycle designs by the company.
“Working on something,” Aggarwal captioned the image, which reveals a straightforward downtube chassis featuring the battery peg and charging port situated where the fuel cap would typically be on an ICE model. The mid-set, neutral footpeg position hints at a tall stance.
Currently, Ola’s lineup consists solely of electric scooters. Bhavish Aggarwal plans to introduce several electric motorcycles, entering a segment with few competitors such as Revolt, Matter, and Ultraviolet, which cater to the higher end of the EV market.
Ola Electric leads the market for electric two-wheelers, having sold over 250,000 units in 2023. This achievement makes it the first EV manufacturer to surpass this annual sales milestone. In 2023, the company held a market share of approximately 31 percent, with an average monthly sales figure of around 20,000 units.
Ola initially unveiled the concept of four electric motorcycles in August of last year, with a promise to launch the bikes by late 2024.
Ola Diamondhead:
It is expected to be the flagship motorcycle, featuring a diamond-shaped front fascia, a horizontal LED strip, a concealed LED headlamp pod, a digital instrument cluster and low-slung clip-ons.
Ola Adventure:
As the name implies, it is likely designed for adventure enthusiasts, potentially as an electric ADV with an upright stance and tall design. It is expected to feature light pods, front LED day-time-running (DRLs), tall mirrors, a digital instrument cluster and ample ground clearance.
Ola Roadster:
For street riders, Ola offers the Roadster. The concept version showcases a modern naked street fighter design, featuring elements like charger cowling, tall clip-ons, and turn indicators on extensions. The production model is also expected to include LED headlamps, daytime running lights (DRLs), LED tail lights, a digital instrument cluster and an elongated fuel tank area.
Ola Cruiser:
Another street-rider, mostly urban tourer concept named literally cruiser was showcased. This model sports a design of a bulked up modern non-classic cruisers. Array of features anticipated to make its way with the production-spec of this model LED headlamps, followed by LED tail light, a day-time-running-light (DRL), a digital instrument cluster and a set of north road or moustache handle bars.
Elctrik Speaks:
Ola is widely anticipated to launch or reveal its new bikes this August 15. Although there has been no official confirmation from the company, these bikes are expected to debut in 2025. This strategic move will enable Ola Electric to broaden its dominance in the Indian two-wheel electric market, meeting the growing demand for e-bikes alongside competitors like Ultraviolet and Oben.
With major players such as Hero MotoCorp, in partnership with California-based Zero, also entering the electric bike market, Bhavish’s strategy to venture into this segment could prove to be a masterstroke.
It aims to bolster Ola’s market share and maintain its leading position in sustainable mobility in India.
