Since 2019, Chinese auto-giant SAIC operated, British Manufacturer MG Motors is on roll in India and who would have thought, in just a short span of five years, the brand would grab the position of top EV manufacturers in the nation. In today’s date, MG Motors India operations is owned by JSW group, which has a fleet of already existing two EV models in their lineup.
As per the reports, in direction of expanding EV portfolio “MG-JSM Auto” will introduce a third model in their EV fleet, joining the ZS and Comet. The upcoming vehicle, will be MG India’s most premium EV till date, which will be placed above ZS EV. Earlier, with the news of MG-JSM Auto, securing patents for Wuling Binguo EV in India, it was speculated that the third model in MG India’s EV line-up could be a re-designed Binguo EV, but now the rumors have been completely declined by MG-JSM Auto’s officials.
The all-new introduction as the third EV in MG-JSM Auto’s fleet, confirmed will be SAIC’S subsidiary brand Wuling Cloud EV’s MG Version, exclusively for Indian auto market. Wuling and MG shared, “Global Small Electric Vehicle” (GSEV) platform underpins the Cloud EV. The four-door crossover, measures 4,295 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,652 mm in height, with a comfort of 5-seat configuration.
Design:
The MG version of the Cloud EV, is not expected to change much, in comparison to Wuling. The overall styling resembles from the Chinese version, featuring a high roofline and flush pop-up door handles in the exterior. The front fascia, carries a thin multi-functional connected DRL bars with split LED headlamps on a muscular bumper, whereas the rear profile highlights, L- shaped connected LED tail lights.
Features:
The Cabin of the Cloud EV boasts, an 8.8 inch fully-digital instrument cluster and a personalized AI based 10.25 inch
floating touch screen infotainment unit. It is also expected that, single zone climate control, front seats ventilation with electronic adjustment, wireless charging, auto dimming IRVM, a 360 degree bird view camera, connected car tech and (ADAS), as the Cloud EV, will be placed above ZS EV, which already features ADAS Level-2, could be the part of package. It is unclear whether the sunroof, either it be a single-pane or panoramic, will be on offer.
Powertrain:
MG hasn’t disclosed the technical details of the India spec-Cloud EV. However, a 50.6 kwh battery pack, offering a range of upto 460 km, is rumored to be on papers.
Launch:
MG-JSM Auto has recently disclosed that, the MG Cloud EV, which has already been spied testing on Indian roads under camouflage multiple times, in its production ready avatar will see its launch by month of September this year in the Indian auto market. There is no clue over what, price tag will the MG cloud EV hit the Indian showrooms.
