MG Windsor EV Panoramic Glass Roof
MG Motor has been generating anticipation for its upcoming vehicle prior to its official launch. The vehicle was initially rumored to be called the Excelor EV, but MG has now settled on the name Windsor to align with its tradition of using British fighter plane-inspired names. The teaser images unveiled so far showcase rear seats that resemble those found in business class, featuring a reclining function. Additionally, the teasers reveal a panoramic glass roof, a feature that is uncommon in this particular price range.
The MG Windsor EV offers a unique feature in its price category with its fixed glass roof, branded as the Infinity View Glass roof. This design provides an uninterrupted view of the sky, unlike the traditional panoramic sunroof which consists of two sections with a disruptive joint.
The fixed glass roof not only offers an unobstructed view but also reduces the complexity of the sunroof system, enhancing reliability compared to traditional sunroofs. MG has likened the interior ambience of the Windsor EV to that of a business class jet plane and has even coined the tag line “A New Business Class” for this model.
The MG Windsor EV draws inspiration from the iconic Windsor Castle in the UK, integrating elements of luxury, meticulous attention to detail, exquisite craftsmanship, and exclusivity. Its exterior features include flush door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 4.3m length, crossover hatchback styling, an electric tailgate, and a large glass area.
What to expect?
The Windsor EV comes with Aero-Lounge reclining seats featuring bubble-style upholstery, showcasing the vehicle’s focus on rear seat space and comfort.
The interior also boasts electrically adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, air purifier, wireless charging pad, keyless entry, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, an 8.8-inch instrument screen, ambient lighting, and other advanced features.
The vehicle’s safety features include a 360-degree camera, 4 airbags, all-four disc brakes, an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and additional safety elements.
The powertrains are expected to be similar to those in the Indonesia-spec model, sold as the Cloud EV under the Wuling brand. The vehicle is expected to have a 50.6 kWh battery and a single motor powering the front wheels, providing 134 bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque.
ELCTRIK Speaks The MG Windsor EV sounds like a promising electric CUV with unique features like the panoramic glass roof and Aero-Lounge reclining seats. It seems to prioritize comfort and luxury, with advanced safety features and a reliable powertrain.
