As the newest giant step in electric public transport, Exponent Energy, in partnership with Indian manufacturer Veera Vahana, presented the Veera Mahasamrata EV, which is presumed to be the world’s fastest-charging electric bus.
Key Highlights:
- Exponent Energy’s 1 MW charger is used to fill up the 320 kWh battery in just 15 minutes.
- It can achieve the speed of 30 km/h in just 10 seconds with a top speed of 98 km/h.
Revolutionary Charging Technology by Exponent Energy
At the heart of the EV bus lies Exponent Energy’s 1 MW charger. That means filling up the 320 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery, taking an astonishing 15 minutes for a full charge. The bus would run at a very high voltage of 650 volts, and it would achieve an impressive range of 650 kilometers on a single charge.
Performance Features
The 13.5-metre-long bus is powered by a PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) with a peak power of 190 kW. This will enable the bus to accelerate to the pace of 0-30 km/h in less than 10 seconds and rise up to 98 km/h in top speed. It’s furnished with an air suspension and can take 36 passengers on board.
Strategic Deployments
The first deployment of the Veera Mahasamrata EV is proposed on the highly trafficked Bengaluru-Hyderabad route. There will be four strategically located charging stations, one at each terminal and two along the highway, with a capacity of 1 MW. This would enable hassle-free changes from the conventional diesel bus, which needs refueling every 300 km.
Srinivas Reddy, managing director of Veera Vahana, highlighted that one of the major infrastructural inputs for modernizing public transport would be rapid charging infrastructure.
He stated, “It is crucial to introduce methods that replicate the efficiency of diesel refueling. With this new system, operators can ensure schedules without huge interruptions.”
Future Market Positioning of Exponent Energy
Veera Mahasamrata EV can revolutionize the electric bus market of India as it cuts operational costs up to 30% compared to standard ICE (internal combustion engine) buses.
CEO of Exponent Energy Arun Vinayak commented, “Our commitment is to make electric travel accessible and convenient for everyone. We are enabling India’s transition to sustainable transportation with our rapid charging network.”
According to industry experts, this development has been termed a watershed moment for electric vehicles in India. As a result, this might set new standards for efficiency and sustainability in public transport.
ELCTRIK Speaks
The Veera Mahasamrata EV will mark a major milestone for greener public transportation solutions in India. This technologically advanced and strategically planned electric bus is set to improve operational efficiency in its quest to remodel the future of intercity travel. It Will be a symbol of the crucial change the country needs, keeping it clean and efficient in terms of transport.
