- Phasing Out Fossil Fuels: Non-electric three-wheelers registration will stop from August 2025. All CNG auto-rickshaws over ten years old will have to be replaced. CNG auto-rickshaws will not be renewed after this date.
- Fleet Electrification: The policy aims at an overall switch to electric vehicles for the city’s civic services. It includes the waste collection trucks utilized by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Jal Board (DJB). Achieving 100% of these as electric vehicles by the year 2027.
- Upgraded Charging Infrastructure: More than 13,200 charging points are proposed in the city. This ambitious project guarantees that charging points will be provided every five kilometers. Which addresses one of the major concerns of prospective EV buyers.
Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh has welcomed the new policy strongly. “Bold targets aimed at ensuring EV transition in every vehicle segment.” He underlined the necessity of overall strategies to enable this transition and counteract extreme air pollution due to internal combustion engine vehicles.
