On January 30, 2025, JSW MG Motor India has announced its fourth Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. In collaboration with LICO Materials, this ambitious initiative is set to revolutionize the use of recycled electric vehicle batteries. JSW is not only propelling a circular economy but also significantly contributing to the sustainability goals of the automotive industry.
Key Highlights of the New BESS
Fully equipped with innovations designed to bring efficiency and reliability:
- Extended Lifespan: The system is designed to last four times longer than a traditional battery storage solution.
- Cost Efficiency: One of the most significant advantages of this energy storage system is that it reduces operational costs by 60%. This tremendous saving makes the system very popular among residential, commercial, and industrial users.
- Diverse Capacity Options: The BESS is available in three different models with storage capacities of 18kWh, 100kWh, and 300kWh. Customers are able to select the best one that suits their particular needs in energy utilization.
- Advanced Safety Mechanisms: Safety is of utmost importance in energy storage systems. The latest BESS comes with advanced safety technologies, including immersion oil cooling and smart thermal management systems.
- These innovations ensure safe operation even in extreme temperature conditions, ranging from -20°C to 60°C.
- Warranty Assurance: Each unit comes with a five-year warranty. Providing users with peace of mind regarding the reliability and durability of their investment.
Neha Jain, the Head of EV and Innovation Ecosystem at JSW MG Motor India, identified the importance of sustainability in modern automotive practices. “By giving the batteries a second chance at life, this project is a step toward a sustainable EV ecosystem.”
Background & Previous Initiatives
Project Revive builds on the earlier sustainability initiatives that JSW MG Motor India has undertaken to enhance energy efficiency and promote renewable resources. Some of the projects undertaken include:
